As far as I know, everything on the remote is available on the front panel and you can see where you arfe going via the small lcd display. I can do set-up and all other options front the front panel.
But, I just thought about the test patterns; not sure if they are there. I'll try to remember and check mine tonight.

I cannot get the test patterns from the front panel. Otherwise, the front panel will get you all the set-up stuff. You can also use a universal programmed remote, or the serial input. If you want, I'll email all the owners manual stuff.
