How far a drive is it from your place to Indy?
Can I bring my tent and camp in your backyard?! LOL!
Cheers,

Is this your official thread?
I will see how it goes, but I may swing up. I am 80% sure that I am going to Cedia. That show ends Sat afternoon.

Great, I'm catching up on the camping I haven't yet been able to do this summer.
We just got done with a weekend in Ypsilanti for the Summer BeerFest put on by the Michigan Craft Brewer's Guild...5000 fun-loving maniacs...and my friend who lives 3 blocks away is one of the fellows that runs it! So my darlin' and I decided to bring the tent and take over a small section of his backyard!
What's that drivetime to Indy?!
Cheers...

Cliffy lives in St. John, IN, just south of Gary. Drive time to Indy is about 2.5 hrs, assuming you follow the speed limit. I expect Cliffy will make it there in about 45 mins.

I'd love to come but that is my anniversary and we are going up to the Twin cities.

Hmmm, 145 miles. If I drive the the non-turbo, then five hours. If I drive the turbo, then a little over a hour.

Yo Big Dog;
I would dearly love to come to CEDIA, then to the highlight of the week: the unveling of the stacked 3D G90s.
Alas and alack, currently all my spare time is devoted to my dissertation. If I get the agent-based simulation working, and a sufficient number of Monte Carlo runs done, I will be able to come and play. If not, then I will not be able to come and play. I will keep you aprised of my progress. Getting the simulation working is my last big step. After that, its just mechanics (turning the crank) to complete my final academic endevour.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm not spending much time in my own HT this year.

Dear Gary;
Since you asked:
Briefly;
Technical developments always start with an initial allocation of all the key development resources. In any profession: cost, time. In my profession, the space business: mass, power, data rate, etc. Later in time, as some part of the development gets in trouble and needs additional resources, key development resources are re-allocated. Almost always, both the initial allocation, and subsequent reallocations are done using expert judgement. Problem is, at least in my profession, the results over the last 50 years are not real good. NASA science mission developments have a historical mean cost growth of +27%. Over the decades, this has meant the extra expenditure of billions of dollars.
A couple of times in history, a different technique has been used for key development resource reallocation. An auction-based resource reallocation mechanism has been tried. Total cost growth for the 12 science instruments developed for the Cassini Saturn orbiter, using an auction-based resource reallocation mechanism was +0.9%. Total mass growth was
-7%. Later in the decade of the 1990s, the same key development resource auction-based mechanism was used to reallocate resouces on the EOS Terra science instrument development, with similar results.
The auction-based resource reallocation mechanism has not been used to reallocate resources in a spacecraft development. The research analyst claims that the auction-based mechanism is equally valid when used in a spacecraft development. He intends to proove the claim by developing an agent-based spacecraft development model, then perturbing the model selcting random values for initial development resource allocations needed, and selectiong random values for resource reallocations needed, via a series of Monte Carlo runs. The research analyst claims that he can produce statistically significant evidence that the mean of the cost growths produced by the agent-based simulation using auction-based resource reallocation is less than the mean of the actual historical NASA science mission cost growths.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.....................

Yo Big Dog;
I will be unable to attend either CEDIA or your meet this September. My faculty advisors have picked September 10th as the next day that we meet, and discuss progress.
I will let you know the next time I have an opportunity to be anywhere near Chicago.

Ok guys, here is the update and right now, unfortunately its not good news. I am having a serious "drift" problem with one of the projectors and with me being out of town every week now for work, I don't know if I am going to be able to resolve the problem in time for the meet (I am only home less than 3 days a week now) . I'm going to try and work on the twins this weekend but if I am not able to get this resolved, I will probably have to cancel the meet.
Actually, if I am not able to get this resolved, the projectors will be coming down and put up for sale.
I will update the status at the end of the weekend. Hope everyone is well.
Cliff

That sucks. I was looking forward to meeting Craig and Eve.
I know Ken is going to Cedia. Was he going to come up on Sat or Sun? How about Craig? Do either of them have an idea on fixing it?
