Hi, I looked at building a Torus screen before but decided that it was more trouble then it would be worth... Yes I have read the screens section here but i looked over it again to get a refresher. thanks. I am still not sure though how high of a gain I should go with for this projector i think I used a 1.2 before but i would like it to be brighter. that 1.2 was on a 150+ inch 4:3 screen though. I also want to do a curved screen but have not decided on a radius yet. also would I be better to go with a slightly smaller screen and set a little closer or a larger screen and set back further?

150 inch means you are pushing you projector hard. I'd think that a 110" 4:3 screen would be much better at 1.3 gain.
You could always try Wilsonart.

Yeah I knew the screen was really too big but the only place I could put it was in front of a extra wide sliding glass door. the screen had to cover the door to block the light and had to be electric to please the wife. it worked but was not the picture I was wanting. this time I want to get the screen right but stay as low cost as possible other wise the wife will just say no and It will not happen (not worth the fight)

TBH one thing that makes this hard for me is I have the only crt projection system I have ever seen. So I only have my past set ups to go by. it would be awesome if I could see another setup and even better if that setup used a xg-110 that is why I was asking about what other xg-110 owners were using, and what works best with this projector. I want a clear bright picture.

I notice the Mocom UHG screen has the shape of the surface of a sphere. Where as the old Vutec screen is the shape of a torus. Never understood why Vutec used a torus.
BTW: I sent a message to Mocom for pricing and never recieved a reply. I'm not even sure they have a US distributer. I think their UHG screen is very expensive though.
I set up my G90 with a 16:9, 108" wide high gain flat screen and while it looked okay, it didn't have the "punch" of a smaller screen (sold it). I have a lead on another Vutec torus I hope to get. And am still trying to make something out of the Vutec torus I damaged.

For low cost Wilsonart Designer White D354-60, is a good value,

or if you can find a good used screen, I bought a 110" 4:3 Stwart 1.3 gain off of here. Nice screen, not a roll up though. Then again neither is Wilsonart.
The XG110 is an 8 inch projector. It would look great on a 1.2-1.3 gain 7-8 foot wide screen.
As for seeing other peoples set ups. Make a new post with your location. There may be someone in your area that can show you their setup.

THX. for this install I do not need a roll up screen... i do still have my old one i was thinking about just using it and blacking out the area I would not be using... I was hoping for a better quality though and curved... is the screen paint really not recommended?
