Hi,

We have just fitted a Sony card for a customer with a D50 QM projector. Everything looked fine and the picture quality appears excellent. We have two sources feeding the projector as follows;

Source 1 is a Denon Blu-Ray player. If its picture output is set to 'Auto' the picture is fine. If set to 1080p the menu image moves to the left of centre leaving approx a sixth of the screen on the right hand side with no image. If a BD movie is played with settings on Auto I assume it will automatically play in 1080p. If left to play the image fills the whole screen.

Source 2 is a Sky Digital HD box. If this is set to either 720p or 1080i then the image is again shifted to the left.

This shift seems to be suggestive of a synchronisation problem (on the card) however I can't be sure. Has anyone else experienced this and been able to fix it?

Are we talking internal or external Moome ? I assume internal..
If its the External Moome you may need to check the H/V Sync polarity
as Im sure the External V3 box has Jumper pins that can be set..

Iv always used A VP in front of the 4x Moome internal IFB's that Ive owned which has always prevented any such issues for me Due to having the Abillity to run optimum rez/custom Timings dependent on the Displays capabilities..

FWIW 1080P/60 is way over the capabilitys of A D50, 1080i 60 setup would be more appropriate for Blu ray & HD playback on A D50..

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. The card is internal. I assume by 'A VP' you mean a video processor? In this install we don't want to bother with additional external components like this if we can help it. The IFB card should really be able to deal with timing issues. The standard argument any customer has it that 'it works with my TV' or 'it works with other projectors'. In the past (with DVD and RGBS outputs) we have seen this shift problem before which was due to a timing tolerance problem. Fortunately it wasn't so big it could not be corrected by adjusting the image shift on the projector. I would have expected timing errors to be redundant in a digital system

As for 1080p, I am assuming that the BD Player is outputting 1080p automatically with compatible films which the card and projector are handling fine. This isn't really the issue though as the image from the Satellite receiver is the main problem and that occurs if set to 720p or 1080i.

The problem with standard 720p@50Hz & moome combo from my own experience on Sony CRT projectors is the image is always left (or right cant recall) of the raster & also never allows full Raster thus A VP that allows timing's to be adjusted solves both these issue..

Iv never had an issue with 1080i @50 & moome cards, The thing I would be suspicious of is the sat receiver as they dont allways stick to the standards as far as timings especially where HDMI is concerned..

AVInteriors Have you tried to contact Moome through his Email address ? moome.liu@gmail.com
