I have an Ampro 4600 that I think is complete, and a 4200(?) that does not have a big board that the 4600 has. Anyone know how to get the 4600 to crank up? I tried turning it on and applying a laptop signal but at that time didn't know I needed a serial cable connected. Is that I need to do or is there some other magic that needs to be done to test out this *giant* pj?
Thanks,
David

You need the wired remote to fire up the projector
OR
you need to make a serial cable and run the Ampro control software to tell the projector to power up.

I have 4600 also and thanks to the generous people on this site it's been working great....... until this week.
The power is supplied through a 3 wire contactor (remote start/stop) so that everything comes on at the same time without having to run around turning everything on, and of course later off. The memory stopped and took all my adjustments. Is leaving it plugged in to a live circuit enough or does it have to left on and just turned off at the remote. I think it was Curt who mentioned how much damage can be done by brief interruptions in the power and sound systems aren't fond of this either.
Did I screw up or is my 4600 ill?

I've got a bucket of the 4600 style remotes if you need one.

Thanks,
David | THere is an older thread same title as this (416ray4538) which probably goes through much of what you're about to go through. Might be fun reading. Enjoy your "new" projector
