Just got an email from Netflix that they were "separating" their streaming and DVD services. Now we "have the choice" to have a streaming plan, a DVD plan, or both.
If you don't do anything, they'll save you the trouble and shift you to the new plan. Which went from $9.99 for streaming & DVD to $7.99 (streaming) plus $7.99 (DVD).
Their "separating" term is a pretty name to put on a SIXTY PERCENT INCREASE IN PRICE!!!
Sheesh. Time to check out alternatives. Is Blockbuster any good? As far as I can tell, their On Demand streaming service doesn't have a monthly fee, but they charge by the movie.

It was only a matter of time. They are becoming a leader in media delivery rather than an extra or alternative to premium cable/sat channels.

I should think in the coming year all Internet Service Providers will be either jacking their rates based on BW usage, or putting increasingly more difficult to live with caps on accounts. Netflix has become by far the most BW consuming entity ever. Not even P2P and porn can compete.

Already cancelled. Can use some Amazon VOD and streaming because I already pay for Prime and will supplement that with Vudu (AMAZING PICTURE AND SOUND QUALITY! for streaming) and Redbox with Blurays.
I have had enough of their BS. Cancelled along time ago during HDDVD and BR fiasco and am happy to cancel again. The selection for streaming is awful.

I still walk to a store and pick out discs one by one.
Then again, I live just up the street from the greatest video store in the world.

Greg, how's the selection with Amazon and Vudu? I was pretty pissed when I realized what a crappy selection Netflix had for streaming.

Amazon's is worse.
Vudu's is pretty good but the price is quite a bit more...$5.99 for an HDX with 5.1 DD+ sound. Vudu is for only occassional use (<1 per month).
I just wish that Amazon worked at getting their player integrated into more places like Netflix has been for the last few years.
