on NECs its backwards, your actually looking at (from left to right) Red Green Blue. The "new" blue tube has wear thats pretty close to what my old blue tube had, but my old blue tube has screen burn from the xbox 360 dashboard, plus the new blue tube has a larger wear pattern on the phosphor.
So to answer your question, Im 100% sure

Backwards compared to what? My Sony and NEC are both the same way in terms of colour order.

NEC arranges their tubes differently than other CRT projectors, most are Blue, Green, Red from left to right when facing the tubes, NEC does it as Red Green Blue..
I don't quite remember what Sonys tube order is, but I know for instance that the Marquees are Blue Green Red...

do the necs project their image diagonal instead of horizontal like other pjs  .
just kidding, make you don`t kill thyself when twisting the deflection yoke.

Hahaha, You know honestly if this is the way I would have bought the projector, without knowing what I know... I would probably assume that they are projecting correctly  
ill make sure, I never ground myself to the chassis, always one hand behind my back while operating these puppies with the hood open.
I also rearranged the HV wires so I can safely work in the projector without getting near them
Oh... And if anyone is wondering, I did bleed all the new tubes, the red and green wasn't too bad, but when I stuck the needle into the blue I had glycol squirting into my face 
They are all depressurized at least

i mean the live solder connections on the deflection yoke (the 1 closest to the tube bell).
it`s these connections that carry lethal voltages.
in newer marquees there is a plastic cap over them that prevents you from touching those connections.

Also heres a pic from when I first bought the XG and set it up, it shows the wear on the tubes (on screen). The picture isn't great so its a bit hard to point out, so I put nice colorful arrows and text on the image
EDIT: I should note that it was a very quick setup, thats why the convergence does not look so good, and if I remember correctly the edge focus and astig needed some work too

I reckon ive seen more this way than the other, Ive seen a couple Barcos, a DWIN, and a Marquee with them the other way, but then ive seen a Vision One with them the same as above too...

come to think of it, my sony 1271 has the tubes as Blue, Green, Red when looking at the tubes.

Congrats on the new tubes! You worked pretty fast getting those puppies installed.
Great to hear about bleeding the tubes and the blue tube for sure. It is by far the oldest out of the three tubes. Some day you may be able to find a new(er) blue tube without much wear. I had my projector so close to such a large screen that I could actually see about a 2" line on the right side of wear from the blue. I didn't want to make the image any smaller at the risk of ruining the brand new green and newer red tube.
Either way...you at least have a backup blue now with about as much wear. They should last you through that green and red.

I figured that I got them, may as well get them installed right away. the blue tube being older explains the squirting of the glycol, wasn't expecting that, but I had a good laugh from it.
Got them setup a bit further now, honestly I've been spending more time using the projector than working on it, but I'll take a few hours from using it to get the magnetics and other settings more dialed in. I spent the weekend working on it, mainly getting the colors back to normal. I can't beleive how much more punchy the colors look with these tubes!
I have to say for my first complete retubing experience it has been quite interesting and enjoyable, but I do hope it will be a while, or at least, like you said, find a good blue tube to throw in, before I do the retubing thing again.

At the risk of repeating myself, "compared to what?"
Have a look at my pics, the Sony i have is exactly the same way as the NEC. Im not saying they all are, but when you say backwards, it seems there is just as many that have them this way around as there is the other way around. Ampros are bloody backwards....
