Well I'm helping the family set up an older Runco 933, and it doesn't have the original VP with it anymore. The RGB cables lead to the media cabinet where they pigtail into a piece that looks about like a 15pin d-sub connection or such.

Now for the question: I'm fairly certain I need to purchase a VP to make the projector work (unless I use the 15pin input on the projector with a computer). It looks like some people use an HDfury2 unit? Maybe try to find original Runco 933 (old school) unit? A newer Runco unit? Lumagen is out of price point.

Needs: 720p to watch blu ray from PS3 (see sig). I would like to route PS3 through my AV receiver, then go component output to my projector. Which crazy little box should I buy? I'd really like to not spend TOO much. Less than $300 if possible.

Are you using HDMI or component?

Thank you. I plan on using HDMI v1.1 from the PS3 to Onkyo receiver so I can listen to DVD-A and DTS 5.1 movies. From the Onkyo to the projector I plan to use component cables, mostly so I can view the movies in 720p. I have no need to get audio to my projector (that I know of?).

So both. But for the projector end, it should be component only.

That moomecard looks pretty good. $280. Thanks for the great suggestion, that looks like my best option so far.

Any other suggestions? Again, HDMI isn't necessary (do most people run audio to their projector?), only component. Even a VP that could easily be found used for a cheap price too.

Yeah, Moome has been keeping CRT alive by making the HDMI internal cards and the External Box. great products and top quality.

This won't work. You can't get HDMI in and analog out of a receiver.

You will need the Moome box Athan linked to.

Wow, great point. I never knew a receiver couldn't switch from HDMI down to component.
Is HDfury 2 or 3 similar or a direct replacement for Moomebox? If so, pros/cons of each?

Can't get DVD-A from your PS3 either. SACD is available on only the very early (4-USB port) fat PS3's. Sad
