Whats going on? The "Old" stuff is back on the market? What about the myth The Plasma Tv's can broke if you shack it, the gas can escape, etc,. What about Audio CD (DVD, etc) are much better than the LP. Now, several new tv's are plasmas ("Plasmas was always better" they accept now). Turntables are back on the electronics shop (They never left Hi-Fi stores) and now you can find LP's on the records stores. The newest AVR's does include now "Phono" input. "LP has better sound".
Can we dream "THE CRT"S are back!" ?. I'm not talking as we know them now. I'm talking using new tech. May be lighter, better electronics. Will they said "CRT's were always better for HT" ? . Will be fun to see what more is coming back from the past.

This made me laugh a little! I am okay with seeing some "old" things coming back, but not everything! I love my CRT projector, so I don't care if anyone says differently. I am, however, okay with leaving most of the 90's technology in the past! Unless we're bring back cassette tapes, of course

The home theater construction project never ends! Any advice on seating would be appreciated. I know familyleisure.com sells them. Any other ideas?

AFAIK that was originaly what it was intended for since tape had so many problems, at least the little stuff did. I hear 8-track is really hot righ now though LOL

Yeah, analog sound from an LP is something one can only dream of when using CDs....
As a reasonably smart Chinese man once said ( and this is translated... ) :
| Quote: | | One simultaneously use three guns and the single rifle bolt, should have the qualifications to speak today me to three rifle bolt's views. |
Which i would say he means: Until you view both CRT and digital at the same time, you do not have the knowledge to tell him what you really think of CRT, until then, you keep ya mouth shut.
And he goes on to say:
| Quote: | | Many friends also in are adoring three rifle bolt's picture natures, but I say by somebody who has been through passerby status, three rifle bolts measure can only broadcast increases the line DVD or the blue light movie software extremely after today |
Which is very likely to mean this: The nature of the picture quality seen from the 3 rifle bolt projector is pretty bloody good, my friends all love it, i love it, and anyone that has seen one in the flesh loves it too....
And if that isnt what it means, then im buggered if i know, but that is my take on it

And this i can relate to, although replace Sony products with NEC....
| Quote: | | Orders one to two weeks may take. ~~~~G70 and G90 use the family, the next half one's life might spend one's last years together with three guns. |

It didn't replace them in my house I still use them. The only thing I really like about CD is you can find a new track quickly but then again when I compile a tape there are only song I like.

never had much luck withy cassette. Only thing I remember is them warping in my glovebox and the wheels sticking so that iiittt plllayyeeedd vveery slloowwly with lots of WoOoOoBBBBle . Same thing for VHS, quite a few of those hit the wall at a high rate of speed.
Not to say keeping vinly clean is easy but it never has to leave the room and certainly never see's the dirt in my car.

I'm with ya, Rosenbush.
CRT still rules...not only with image quality, but MOSTLY against viewing fatigue (which is very difficult to sense for many, simply paying attention to it changes the perception, you can usually only gauge fatigue after long viewing, which just DOESN'T happen with any pre-purchase demonstrations!).
Cheers and more,
John

Actually direct view CRT tv's are still being made on a daily basis, and in large quantities. We just had a discussion on this on a tech site. Some companies are reporting up to 2000 units per day. They are in all different sizes and are 720P. but they dont appear the have a digital tuner but do have new technology.
Export countries are listed and US is NOT one of them. Probably not allowed because of the tuner.
So I guess just cause the US doesn't import many anymore doesn't mean the rest of the world isn't still using them.
Things don't change everywhere else just cause they do here.

The way to get around that is to market them as computer monitors. I would love a 720p 34" direct view.

Can't link you to the discussion cause it's a private site but I can link to some manufacturers. Give me a couple hours. I'm on my way out again.

hey, where can you buy a new 720p crt? if the price is reasonable I would jump on it, I have been looking for a new bigger set for a while, but none of the plasmas or LCDs have a pic I can bear to watch even in the shop.
just last week was tempted to buy a 47" lg since theyre so darn cheap..but what do i need a tv for that I can only watch still images, any movement and i get headaches and nausea...
