Apocalypse Now (Two-Disc Special Edition) [Blu-ray] (1979)

Apocalypse Now (Three-Disc Full Disclosure Edition) (Apocalypse Now / Apocalypse Now Redux / Hearts of Darkness) [Blu-ray] (1979)

links modified to support the foum

Other than the inclusion of what some might call 'fluff', but for the movie itself (and not any alternate version) is there any difference in video/audio? One is a lot less expensive than the other.

Kal may need to place/modify links for Amazon.

See the last line here from the official press release:

Quote:
Lionsgate has announced 'Apocalypse Now (2-Film Set)' and 'Apocalypse Now: Full Disclosure Edition' are coming to Blu-ray on October 19.

"We are thrilled to be in business with Francis Ford Coppola, one of the greatest filmmakers of our time," said Lionsgate President and Co-Chief Operating Officer Steve Beeks. "Having directed, produced and written some of the most financially successful and critically acclaimed movies in U.S. cinematic history, Coppola is one of the masters of modern cinema. We are honored to add a selection of his most renowned and personal works to our library and look forward to releasing these titles on all formats."

"With their expertise in the home entertainment marketplace, we consider Lionsgate to be the perfect partner to distribute some of my most enduring films," said Coppola. "We are excited to be collaborating with them and hope to continue to enthrall our existing fans while also reaching a whole new audience for these films by presenting them in the highest quality format available along with exceptional in-depth special features."

Specs, suggested list price, and most details have yet to be revealed, but each release will include 'Apocalypse Now - The 1979 Cut' and 'Apocalypse Now Redux' sporting brand new transfers supervised by Coppola, and over nine hours of bonus features.

The 'Full Disclosure Edition' will also include the documentary 'Hearts of Darkness;' Storyboard, Photo, and Marketing Archives; and a 48-Page Booklet.

'Hearts of Darkness' is a great documentary (a must-see for fans) but I'm not sure it's worth the $29 price difference. The problem you're seeing here is that the 2-disc version is currently 63% off while the other's only 27%. If the 3-disc was the same % off it would be about $22 which would (IMHO) make it worth it.

I would like to say that Redux adds the French portion of the film. I loved that part and glad they put that part back in.

I had forgotten about that aspect of the Redux version, but I cannot justify the cost for a scene.

Whatever. It is only $43. I was expecting $65. I would grab it, but I already have Redux on my Tivo from HDnet. This is easily one of my favorite all time movies.
