Hi guys

Running a ceiling mounted sony 1271QM. The input today is 1280x720@72Hz from my HTPC (presume its progressive).

Today, at random intervals, the image will "jump" from side to side, usually by about 2 inches either way, and then return to its proper position.

Also, last night while watching a video on it from the HTPC at 1280x720@ 48Hz, the red convergence suddenly would go about an inch out of whack and then jump back to its normal, converged position, and then eventually it jumped out of whack and about the 20th time it happened, it stayed there till I went and converged it again. This morning, running it at 72Hz, that particular problem hasnt happened again but like I said, the whole image jumps from side to side occasionally.

Has anybody run into this problem on their sony? Whats the fix?

Where are you from? With a name like that and a "QM" i assume youre in Australia.

My 1001 QM did this years ago, not sure if itll be the same issue on a 1271 cause im not sure how they are converged, but with the 1001 al the trim pots were dirty, and would cause the values to change with temperature.

Hi mate

Yes indeed, I am in Australia.

Funny you should mention the 1001 QM - I had the chance to have a play with one of these 4 years ago. Fisrt experience I had setting up a CRT projector in fact.

But alas no, mine has digital convergence, the only trim pots on this are for the electronic focus adjustments. Thanks anyway!

Since posting this I have tried other refresh rates, e.g 60hz and the problem seems to have gone away. Hope it stays away!

No worries, with a bit of luck you might be ok.

Ive got the 1001QM in my bedroom. I re tubed it not long ago so its done less than 500 hours on new tubes.

Got an NEC 9PG in the lounge room, its still on original tubes that are amazingly still not showing signs of wear. Ive had the NEO-GEO running on the NEC for a hell of alot of hours lately, and loving the perfect razor sharp image from the RGB that console puts out, even if it is only a 240p signal, it still looks brilliant.

Been a very long time since ive put on a bluray....
