Using dvdo vp50 for switching hdmi for sat box,blueray player, xbox. Dvdo connected to sharp hdmi input # 2. When I input each one directlly into tv, I get great picture and sound,but going through the dvdo, I don't get any sound at all. Is there some thing in the vp50,that I 'm not setting correctly ????

Have you set the audio output to HDMI. I believe that the audio out is assignable for each input.

The manual that I have doesn't not explaine that too well. So I have to go into the audio input and select hdmi #1 . I have opital going into one of the audio input too, how do I select that ? could you please explain step by step....if you have time ?

It's been a long time but I will try.
Say you have HDMI 1 hooked up providing audio and video.
When you have HDMI 1 selected you have to go into the menu and assign HDMI as the Audio Input.
If you have a DVD player hooked up to component 1 and Optical going to digital audio 2. When component 1 is selected as the input you have to set that Audio input to digital audio 2.
All the inputs on the back are labeled.
Hope that helps. If not tell me exactly how it is hooked up and I might be able to help more. I sold my VP50 months ago so I do not have one here to do a step by step. There manual does suck from what I remember.

I have hdmi going out of sat box, only using hdmi.The audio in the sat box is set to pcm. It's connected to the hdmi #1 on the vp50. I select audio.....hdmi.... and from the remote I select hdmi # 1. The hdmi output from the vp50 is going into a sharp tv, input #2. I get great picture and still no sound.

No just.....just dolby/pcm and pcm. When I connect hdmi cable directlly to tv, I get video and audio . It's just not working in the vp50, or I'm not running it correctlly.

Hmmmm, Did you try the other option on the set top box? (I doubt that this is the issue)
Also when you have HDMI 1 selected you have set that audio to HDMI? Each input has it's own selection, so if you have not selected HDMI 1 first it will still be on the default.
I do not think the set top box is the issue.

I'll try that next. Will I need to select hdmi input #1 and then select the audio for that input ?

Yes. You have it correct. If you selected audio first you may not have selected the audio output for the correct input.
As I said previously they are different for every input limited to only 4 digital inputs and HDMI per.

I did and still no sound. I just noticed that there is a auto priority and lots of numbers for each one. What do these number do ? I'm only connected to hdmi #1.
auto priority >hdmi 1,2,3,4 and then 1 to 12 in the next selectable block .

Auto priority is for inputs. If the unit senses a signal on an input with a higher priority it will switch to that input.
To get your procedure down. You selected HDMI1 then went into the setup menu and are setting the audio to HDMI?
If that is what you did then try another HDMI input. Like 2 and set that audio input to HDMI.

Yes that correct,I now switch input to hdmi # 3 and selected hdmi audio output and still no sound. I think I may try to reset the vp50 and see what happens .

Yeah you have me there......... Try to reset to default and go from there. DVDO's tech guy was helpful when I had auto priority issues. Not sure how it will be now that they were bought up by that other company or if he is even still there.
