What looks like a resistor, has only one or two stripes and is listed as a "P" device. on a circuit board.
The manual lists it as a "IC link". I'm working on a circuit board with power issues that has three of theses and two of them show open circuit. Are these fuses???

I'm throwing in the towel. Right now the power supply works and I can hear it come on with the power button but it's the ONLY thing that works. No front display. The door doesn't open and close The disc table rotates 5 disc slots and then the supply powers down. This is totally frigged up. I don't know who's been mucking around with this but it's whacked. I brought down a portable TV to connect to it just to see what happends when you press the power button. So I'm looking on the back for the yellow composite video connection. The yellow connections are in the area where the 5.1 center channel and subwoofer lables are and the two black audio connectors are where the composite video connections should be. I just wasted 5-6 hours on this royal POS.

Oh well. At least I learned something about Sony power supplies Rolling Eyes

Did you test every voltage on CN201 and did you verify relay RL101 latched?

All voltages OK. I hear the click and read voltage from the aux transformer at CN204 on the AV board. I am reading 12.5v and 25v at that connector.

And did you then check PS302 on the AV board?

In case I'm not on for your response, if P502 was blown like you said then PS302 is probably most definitely blown also. This is the line voltage that after switched on by Q301 and Q302 supply the florescent display. Of course you should also be checking Q301 and Q302 for short but not likely. More likely D305.

Of course Sony uses so many low amp fuses on lines they are not really need on and they often blow for no reason at all.

I redid the test for the supply outlined earlier. Jumped pin 1 to pin 11. All the voltages at CN201 are correct. There is only three connectors to the power block Line in, CN201 which goes direct to the AV board and CN204 at the AV board. Everything out of the power block goes to the AV board first

I agree, but on your AV board after CN205 there is another fuse, PS302, and that could be blown. That supplies your florescent display.

Also your voltages on CN204 should be 10v A/C using pin 2 as gnd. After it's rectified on the AV board it goes D/C .

It should be right off of CN205. I forget the pin number and it's on a different PC from where I am now.

Google "IC-protector" and you found amp ratings vs. markings

IT's pin 2 (-11V). It's pin 2 on the PS, AV and panel L board. It appears to go straight through with a brief pit stop at PS302. If I have continuity between pin 2 at the PS and pin 2 at the panel L board, PS302 and everything inbetween should be good.
