I got this projector for free from a friend after I repaired his computer that got a virus, he said he hadn't used the projector in years and got it from a college in the '80s and hasn't been used in two years, it's just been collecting dust in his garage. As I later found out after playing a movie on it and researching why parts of the image are fuzzy a long sitting never used CRT projector = coolant fungus, so I've set to flushing the coolant in the green and blue CRTs and dissembling/cleaning the coolant chambers as it's pretty nasty in there, but while waiting for the replacement CRT coolant in the mail I've gotten to carefully disassembling more of the entire projector to do a detailed cleaning. Between the red and green CRTs their are two slot installed PCBs and after removing them to blow the dust off and look for anything that may be bad I saw on the back of the second board their is some homemade wiring that I posted in the pics below. Does anyone know what this could be for? I can't even find out what the board itself is for.

Don't worry about those if the projector's working fine. Many CRT projectors have jumper wires. It usually means the board got an update during its production run.

I figured it wasn't anything to worry about. I'm more curious as to what they do/are for and what the board does.

Mikel -
Curt has posted the full service manual here:
http://www.curtpalme.com/Sony10xx_Downloads.shtm
This shows the board in question to be the "BB" board...it does not show the (what appear to be) diodes added to your board. I briefly poked around the AVS archives and found someone did a BB board capacitor mod, but nothing like yours.
Bests,
Matt

The service manual shows the board in question to be the "BB" board and provides pretty full description if you want to figure it out. That said, it does not show the (what appear to be) diodes added to your board. I briefly poked around the AVS archives and found someone did a BB board capacitor mod, but nothing like yours.
Bests,
Matt

Video board I believe. THat looks like a factory mod with the sticky tape behind it, I've seen that on lots of Sony products. Who knows what the mod is though.
