I know it's not cool to laugh at someone else's misfortune, but I had to LOL with this one.
Many years ago when I started at the avsforum, I remember reading about someone's Sony 1270 coming off the ceiling in the middle of the night and crushing a guy's coffee table. It turns out he was right on the edge of the two studs that he lagged the projector to, and the unit finally came down.
(as an aside, he actually got the damn thing going again, no smashed tubes, only broken PC boards).
Now I read THIS:
I bought an Epson Moviemate 60 a couple of months back.
The problem is, the wall mount it was placed on gave way ( mount made in China/wall made in India ) and the projector fell.
First off, I love the 'mount made in China/wall made in India ' text, but you gotta wonder, if someone can't wallmount a 15 lb projector, do you want this person ceiling mounting a CRT?

No probably Scrotch tape, that's the knock off brand.

might also have been the instructions. i bought a screen which came with mounting instructions to use the included drywall plugs if mounting the screen directly into wall studs or ceiling joists. i phoned them and they changed the instructions on the website's download manual, but how many of their screens are out there about to fall down....
this poor guy probably used drywall screws into the drywall ceiling as per instructions....

My 9500LC is secured with four lengths of 3/8" threadall, going up through drilled holes in 2x4s, with large fender washers, which are in turn laid across three rafter frames each. It's not going anywhere. One rafter has enough strength. One piece of threadall has more
than enough strength. I absolutely do not worry about having that 210 pound machine hanging right over my head.

I took 2 lengths of 2x6, trimmed to fit between the supports in my cathedral ceiling, glued and bolted to either side of the existing 2x6 rafter. 4 lengths of 3/8 allthread go up either side of the now 6" wide (really 5 1/4) fabricated rafter, with steel plates above and below. My 8000 isn't going anywhere!
