Yeah, it's neat to see the AVS CRT forum spring to life again for a few hours every time this forum goes offline. Wink

Thanks, Erik!!!
It got straightened out early this morning. I just haven't been able to get back to this thread until now.
Some anonymous Mod got back to me. Took a couple emails back & forth, but he did eventually re-instate my CZ Eddie account. Would't let me have the 2nd account back though. I don't get that. But whatever.

Chris Wiggles... I can't believe that. You were a staple over there, full of good & helpful info. Wtf?!?

Yup. At least in the old days they had enough decency to talk to you openly.

I couldn't even elicit an answer to the question of what anonymous person I was talking to.

I'll bet it was just a mod with a chip on his shoulder. I had some dimwit in the HDTV forum or something, some guy I didn't even know flip out when I explained some obscure thing about the NTSC DVD standard, and that if I ever challenged him again or said anything that he ever said was mistaken that he would immediately and permanently ban me.

He also deleted the entire thread, if I recall correctly, under the guise of "moving" it to another forum that he somehow "goofed up."

I graduated from 6th grade a long time ago. Don't have any interest in revisiting my middle-school experience with some sheltered people who have been around AVS for less time than I have.

This is what did it for me, with zero warning at all:

Apparently somebody at AVS hates Thomas the Tank Engine... Laughing

AVS had a recent Data Breach and required users to change their password. Well, I only have one account, but when I tried to retrieve my new password - it gave me my full name (something I would never use). Not sure how it happened, but I found myself locked out of posting to the forums. A few e-mails to mikelang@avsforum.com and I get a very short reason: multiple accounts. I explained that I had no intention of making two accounts when trying to resolve the new password for my account and that I would never intend to use my real name. Well, he didn't care and I was banned.

Like others have stated, I don't use just one alias on every board. He didn't seem to understand (or care) that it was a mistake (if I signed on as a different user).

All the years I have contributed to AVS (helping others, posting, sharing ideas, etc) and he wouldn't give an inch to see it was an error and wasn't intentional.

Sorry to hear that Colton (and welcome to *this* forum!) Wink

I had started a thread about the AVS hack here: https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=8554.html
A few posts in I explain how they're owned by an ad impression business that only care about page impressions, not content: http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=456983#456983

Your not the only one. My friend Darin had an old account that he never used. He had to go back to that account and walk away from his other 20k posts.

I wonder how many people have given up and left AVS because of this.
