so i measured my distance from tube face to screen on my 1252 and its at 127" this is where i set it to make use of the most phosphor. comparing manuals of the 1252 and g70 i see that the g70 has roughly 3" shorter throw distance. tubes being the same size, if i have the g70 3" closer at 124" i should be using the same amount of tube face as in the 1252. do you guys agree? Ecrabb mentioned not maxing out the face for better edge focus, im not shure which way to go with this.

I would not ass-u-me anything from this. Experiment to find your throw distance or try your luck... do you live right Wink

There are two schools of thought on phosphor usage; maximizing usage or maintaining edge focus. I personally like to maximize phosphor usage because of many reason. Some of these reasons that are not often mentioned that I like include the following:

1) Better sharpness at center (rise and fall times of spot beam).
2) Brighter image due to more phosphor area being illuminated.

In my setups I always max phosphor usage, but doing it either way is only personal preference.

Also, congrats on changing out the CElements successfully, nice work Smile Did you keep the tubes in the projector than?

yeah i kept them in. i like the idea of a unmolested set, thats the main reason i didnt want to take the tubes out. i started the decommissioning of the 1252 tonight. removed the hush box and it looks tiny compared to the g70! ive located a source for somw wilson art for 75 bucks local. ill be picking that up soon i hope. i guess ill do the pj on a table to get real world throw distance.
