Sure, in a different model revision or a different drive size... But, I'd bet money that every iMac G5 of that model rev with a 160GB drive in it was a ST3160023AS...

You sure have a funny way of asking questions then. Ask again then so I know what your looking for. My posts in this thread pertained more to "people really need to try their best to secure their personal stuff before something happens". They were not for a discussion on how to retrieve stuff after the fact. That animal is to big for here. You quoted things where I was trying to make a point on how difficult it can be after the fact.

Oh, and sorry to hear that you have only had 1% success on platter swapping. My success was much, much higher.

And I wont discuss software on open forum. You can email me if you want.

I'm testing out a new little media streamer I bought, and plugged in one of my old drives just to play with... The drive? ST316002... Wink

I'll check the info on it, but I bet it's way old... It's PATA, and when I bought it, it was probably huge, whereas when the iMac came with a 160, 320 and 500GB drives were probably common.
