Probably everybody who's still reading this topic.
Except me. I've already got mine!
Incidentally, it's not right to call the 2211 and 22-22 yokes SONY yokes, as Sony did not make them.
They are made by Kanto Denshi, and should be identifed as KD 2211 and KD 22-22.
Various PJ makers just buy them. Or did buy them. My understanding is that Kanto Denshi no longer makes yokes.

Probably you first and foremost, considering that you probably could have made an easy 25 bucks

Got a new set of yokes. they have slightly different marking but are essentially the same. confirmed with test equipment.
Sony KQE26 sony # 1-452-811-11 From a 1292 (22-22 ??) Tested as a Frankenyoke
Pin #
2-4 Astig Winding 53.8uH 3.46ohms
3-5 Static Focus 14.75mH 56.4ohm
6-8 Astig Winding 53.6uH 3.45ohms
7-9 Dynamic Focus 41uH 0.38ohms
Chris N may help me install them tonight.

Glad they are the same Joust... I thought all 1292 yokes were fine, I'd have felt bad if I sold you bum ones! Please let me know how the install goes. I keep debating whether I have the guts to try it myself.

I'm confused about the raster centering using magnetics from a Sony 1292.
Are you guys saying that you cannot center the raster using the focus coil during magnetics setup?
Or are you saying that you lose the electronic ability to center the rasters?
Earlier CJ mentioned that losing raster centering doesn't matter because a good magnetics setup doesn't require it. But raster centerins is PART OF a magnetics setup.
While Lyckman infers that it is the magnetic ability to center the raster, that is being lost.

You loose the ability to do mechanical raster centering, which can be done using the stock Marquee yokes. The electronic centering can still be done as before.
Chris.

Does it matter? I mean, are you going to suffer without it?

I had a small concern when I noticed the number on them was different than the ones Chris has. But they measured the same.
Chris has done it and hopefully his baseball game got rained out so he will come over tonight to help me do the mod.
Yeah, as for the mechanical centering... my red tube was off to the side and even with mechanical centering there simply was not enough movement on the Thompson to do it. hopefully these will be better.

Mad.... without good mechanical raster centering, there are a couple of things that will happen.
-It will take longer for your convergence to "come together" when powering up a cold projector.
-You will notice that your convergence will drift and need to be re-converged more often vs having a good mechanical raster centering done.
-The convergence board *might* run a tiny bit hotter?
Joust. Thanks for the 411. Btw, I used to think that even mechanical centering could not fix a raster that was way out of shape. But it can, and does. But it reuqires some time working with the focus coil in conjunction with the other magnetics.
I'll tune back in when raster centering is fixed. I really don't want to have to mess around with convergence all the time.

I happen to have a 9500 Ultra here with HFQ 900 lenses and the Frankenyokes.. It just came in, I'll be setting it up this weekend and will let you know if I see any significant difference.

Hey Curt.
Did it come from the factory this way or was it user modified?

Not to worry. Even though the horizontal and vertical position controls are in the convergence menu the shift functions are done by putting current through the main deflection yokes. The convergence amps have nothing to do with shift.

Thanks Scott. Got any tips to make this process even better?

Some position adjustment might be had by turning the magnet on the neck of the tube. If static focus has to be near one end try pulling the magnet back toward the neck card a little. If that helps, great. If it is the wrong direction there isn't much you can do. Push it all the way forward.

Got 'em running 8)
Made a drawing of the harness required. I'll post it latter.
in short it was an improvement. Dot shape is better and raster centering is better.
didn't have to mode deflection coils at all.
Going to have to look into the temperature compensation of the thompsons so we can add that.
resistance measurement shows 20k. probably just a NPT resistor.
