|
|
Hi everyone!
Who's interested in a lower priced Radiance Video Processor with all the same features?
Jim and his team at Lumagen have come up with an even lower priced Radiance video processor that still keeps all the same features as the bigger units but simply reduces the number of connections to two HDMI 1.4 inputs and one HDMI 1.4 output. Perfect for today's home theaters where you route everything through a receiver or pre-amp anyway!
The RadianceMini 3D includes all the same feature and functions as the bigger units and is considerably smaller with mounting tabs so it can be fastened to a shelf, or to the wall behind a flat-panel display.
CurtPalme.com is offering the new RadianceMini 3D on sale for only $1395 until the end of the month with $25 continental US shipping! (Regular MSRP is $1995 USD). Worldwide shipping also available. Contact us for a quote. Find it anywhere lower and we will match that price!
Shipping: We've crunched some numbers and come up with various shipping options with Lumagen as these items ship direct. The goal is to offer as much flexibility as possible for those that (a) want to pay as little as possible, and (b) those that want it NOW.
USA (lower 48) can get theirs for only $17, up to $69 if they want it tomorrow.
Here's how it works:
| Code: | USA (low 48) Hawaii/Alaska Canada
Ground $17 $38 $26
3 Day $29 n/a n/a
2 Day $38 $49 $86
Overnight $69 $79 $93 |
For more information, see: http://www.curtpalme.com/Radiance.shtm
To place an order, email us at lumagen@curtpalme.com with your preference. If you're an international customer, let us know what country and we'll quote you an exact shipping cost.
The Radiance 3D is the only video processor that we know of that, over the years, and kept up with new features and offered upgrades to existing users - often through completely free software upgrades! Most other companies we know of do not do this. Instead, they make you buy a new model as new features are introduced. You don't hear this often but CurtPalme.com is comfortable in saying that the Radiance is the one true "buy once, use forever" video processor that has stood the test of time. The Radiance was completely over engineered with processing power that have proven that it can take on just about anything. Truly phenomenal support from Jim Peterson and his crew!
Press release:
| Quote: | RadianceMini 3D joins the award winning Lumagen® Radiance™ video processor family.
January 6, 2011 — Lumagen®, Inc., a specialist in the design and manufacture of video products for the home and corporate markets, is announcing the RadianceMini 3D. The RadianceMini 3D joins other members of the Radiance family, which includes the CEA® 2010 Platinum Video Product of the Year, the RadianceXE.
The RadianceMini 3D sports two HDMI® inputs, and one HDMI output, and can be controlled by either the included IR remote, or by RS-232. Control and setup are the same as other units in the Radiance family. In addition, it provides the same exceptional video quality that the Radiance line has become known for. The unit’s case measures in at a diminutive 8.5” by 5” by 1.05” (216mm by 127mm by 27mm) and has mounting tabs so it can be fastened to a shelf, or to the wall behind a flat-panel display.
HDMI 1.4 3D is supported, including scaling and aspect ratio control for 3D Bluray movies for use with an anamorphic lens, such as those produced by Panamorph®. For dual-projector 3D, two units can be used with each receiving 3D and outputting video for either the left-eye or right-eye.
Jim Peterson, Lumagen’s president, stated, “Our customers have been asking us for a new Radiance product optimized for small systems. The RadianceMini 3D fulfills this request, as well as the need for premier video processing when another product, such as an AVR, or HDMI matrix-switch, is being used for source selection.”
As with the other members of the Radiance line, proprietary No-ring™ scaling, linear-Gamma RGB-color-palette CMS, 21-point parametric grayscale calibration, video deinterlacing, MPEG artifact reduction, temporal noise reduction, and other features, combine to provide the best video quality available.
The RadianceMini 3D is currently available, and is priced at $1995 MSRP. |

Will this do 72Hz or can it be upgraded for the usual fee to a Mini_+?

Maybe a stupid question Kal but, When using the AVR as a switcher and for audio output how does the audio delay work after scaling the video? Who one need to rely on the AVR sync delay settings?
I was just about to pull the trigger on the Duo (while weeping about the thought of wanting a XE. Jim did make me an offer I could almost not refuse on a B stock but alas it is just not in the cards.) This is an enticing piece for sure.
Also what would shipping to Canada add to the bottom line?
Thanks
James

Good enough for me.
My chain will be SC35 Elite AVR -> Radiance Mini -> Moome EXT-V2 -> 9PG
On a side note I just picked up a pair a Marquee 8500's should be a pleasant upgrade from the NEC I hope.

Interesting Athanasios, so you do not send the audio to your pre-amp via HDMI, but coax instead. I assume this is to avoid the unneeded HDMI handshake? I just received my XS+ today, I was going to go Oppo 93->Radiance->Marquee via Marquee Moome card all HDMI, and then thinking HDMI from the radiance to my Denon, but I'm actually thinking maybe Coax is the better way to go for the audio.

so no lossless audio?? I don't think you can get lossless audio and bitstreaming without hdmi .
For my setup I have mine configurered like this.
With my vp50 I send all sources through my onkyo pr-sc886 pre pro then the video to the vp50 for framerate conversion. If I open the menu in the vp50 it will tell me what the audio delay is and I have them all set up in my pre/pro. (for 60hz frame rate dealy is -48ms and 52 ms for 72hz if I recall correctly). Probably can do the same with lumagen.

The reason is I don't have an HDMI pre pro. its an older Adcom 830. |
For what it's worth (this is going to sound sacrilegious from someone who's supposed to be fully into home theater) but the DTS "core" you get from Blu-ray with lossless audio is a 1.5Mbit bitrate which is a good 2-3 times what we used to get on most DVDs - most of which were 448Kbit Dolby Digital. To me, it's a huge step up in audio quality.
The jump to true lossless (7-8Mbit) sounds like a massive jump up in bit rate but (IMHO) most of the benefits are when going from the 448kbit to 1.5mbit.
448kit was just too low. We used to have 1.5mbit DTS DVDs (they were more expensive/special order) and the difference was fantastic. Then DTS developped their half-rate version so that they could fit on a DVD with Dolby Digital. The rate drop was too much...

Sent payment to Jim today. I am sure I will not be regret this purchase. Hopefully I do not have HDCP issues with the Elite AVR with this and the Moome EXT in the video chain. I will obviously defeat the internal processing in the AVR so hopefully that is where the issue lays with the Pioneer products and having HDMI devices on the outputs.
Thanks again Kal.

No, thank *you* James! By ordering through CurtPalme.com you help support our site. We truly appreciate it!
Others with Moome devices and the Radiance do not have any issues so I don't see why you would - the Mini is the same as the other Radiances as far as the internal software goes!
Enjoy your RadianceMini 3D and let us know how you like it once you have it hooked up!

I got my 3D Mini yesterday.
When I get home from work today I will try to set time aside to play with it.
On a side note I was gang banged by UPS for brokerage. There fine establishment though nicely enough to charge me $85 to clear the package with customs LOL!. I am still tender. There logic confuses the hell out of me sometimes. What ever happened to the $35 dollars they used to be. Suppose that is charged based on the value of the package.
The 13% duties were expected, No problem there.
Additional landed costs were ~$265.00.
Either way I am happy as a ping in you know what.
Keep you guys posted. On what I know will be pure perfection from Lumagen's track record.
