I recently put in the Radeon 5000 series GC in my HTPC and installed Windows 7 and FFdshow. I play back MKV files using Core Media player, With my old GC the HD 3450 I could saturate the image through the Core Media player (used Windows XP) but when I tried to with the new card nothing happened. There was a text message that said that saturation is hardware based and that all GC:s don`t allow that. I tried installing zoom player but it was the same, no saturation. I am able to saturate the image using PDVD 10 watching dvd movies. Am I really not able to saturate the image with my new card watching MKV files? I like more colorful images and feel that the new card is waist of money. Mad I would appreciate if somebody could explain this to me.

Best regards

I wonder if this is due to the lack of the HAL in W7 preventing direct-access to the hardware.

I'm not sure what you mean by saturate the image. Do you mean making color adjustments? can't you make those adjustments in the Catalyst control panel?

I solved the problem by re installing the GC driver but without the Catalyst Control (only display drivers). I did mean color adjustments. I like to see colours when I watch a movie and find it easier to make adjustments through the player when the movie is playing.
