Hi,
you can't avoid buying EXT V3. I have also built a HTPC for my 1292 for 3D-bluray playback.
This is the configuration of my HTPC:
Athlon dual core HTPC (Win 7)
Gfx: Nvidia GTS 450 (HDMI 1.4a)
3D-Hw: Nvidia 3D Vision Kit + glasses
Mem: 2GB
Bluray: LG CH10LS20
Player: PowerDVD10 3D Mark II
The Nvidia 3D Vision works so far fine (the history u can read in this thread)
but I use for my HT now a more powerful emitter (Gen2 from 3DTV). The 3D Vision emitter isn't powerful
enough for the usage in a home theater.

Thank you very much, I' ve got other questions, my HTPC is 6 year old, and I need to refresh my hw competency
So you suggest me using EXT V3 instead of GTS450 vga output?
Can I use Gen2 with universal shutter glasses without nvidia 3d kit?
Is there something I'm 'forgetting about the functioning of the nvidia sw?

Hi,
of course you can use the VGA output but then you are stuck using the Nvidia 3D Vision emitter.
Using EXT V3 you are able to connect a more universal emitter like Gen2 with a bigger variety regarding
the glasses. To your second question: I suppose there are other solutions that get along without Nvidia 3D
but you have to search for it, I haven't yet tried something like that.
You could also get problems recognizing EXT V3 through the nvidia sw. For this problem a solution is proposed
in this thread.
At the moment I don't remember any other issues

Ok now the situation seems to be less confused.
Nvidia says that with their cards there is a low cpu usage playing HD sw, what is the cpu usage of the AMD dual core?
I read that PowerDVD 10 need more powerful cpu respect to earlier versions.

hmmm... not more than 40-60%. Most of the work is done by Nvidia gfx, even when converting 2D material in 3D
I didn't have any problem with the Athlon resources. All playbacks (2D-DVD, - bluray, 3D-bluray) run perfect fluently.

That's very good, i'm going to order the new HTPC and moome.
We will update soon, when all the pieces have arrived. In the meantime I'll open a new post to speak about the new placing of the 1292  in my room.

For what I know in the italian forum we are 3. However Moome' s arrived, while htpc parts are incoming.
I' ve ordered:
AthlonII x2 245e 45W CPU with 2 GB ram
Nvidia GT430 fanless

keep on going It's good to know there are some people out there that still have an interest on the 1292's. Especially for troubleshooting it is worth a lot! I had an issue a couple of weeks ago with a short in the wired RC (toasted my Y-board), this was pretty difficult to troubleshoot...

Hi André,
moome EXT V3 supports only 720p@120Hz for 3D. I use for 3D-playback
my HTPC. PS3 works with EXT V3 in 3D-mode only for games, because
3D-games are limited to 720p@1120Hz. 3D-bluray-playback on PS3 uses
1080p, there is no way at the moment to limit the bluray-playback to 720p,
when you try to do this manually PS3 "forgets" 3D-settings 
But for 3D-games PS3 supplies 720p@120Hz
Anyway the 1292 will never support 1080p@120Hz for 3D.
Audio goes out via HDMI to HDMI1.4 AV-Receiver (YAMAHA RXV467)
and from there to EXT V3.
The picture is dimmer, I would say round about half of the brightness of 2D,
so I need to turn brightness up. I have an additional problem, because I use
an sound transparent screen, so I loose more brightness in comparison to a
"normal" screen.
A screen with more gain would help; with a Carada screen you will have much better
results than I have anyway. I know I will have to do something with my screen
for better 3D.

Can anybody confirm is Songy G70 handle 720p/120hz?
I thought of going HTPC route for 3D too.

sure!~~~ 720P 120Hz need at least 90KHz for horizontal frequency, while G70 is 110KHz, and vertical frequency is 38-150Hz

Ok, so the easyest way for watching 3D movies is a pc, I do have a LG bdplayer like yours.
It's fun to see that the good old 1292 can do 3D 
This way there's no need for a complicated setup with 2 1292's, filters, a hdmi splitter and a silver screen.

I am not very confident that this would work, have you ever tried it out?

Would like to check with you guys how do I re-calibrate my PJ when I input the new signal of 720p/120hz.
When we calibrate the PJ we need to align example the red onto green but in 3D we should be seeing double image so may I know how do I do convergent on 3D.
Or simply just calibrate at 720p/60hz will do.

Thanks I have the manual and I know how to set up the PJ for 2D viewing.
What's I like to know is how about 3D when I feed 720p/120hz, do I need to re-calibrate and set a new memory?
If yes how do I calibrate when the picture should be blur or double image for 3D.
