Hello Forum!
My Name is Alex and i'm from Mexico, I was looking for a projector since last year, when my tv died, and I managed to find this piece of equipment on "ebay" for 150.00 Dlls. Obviously, I did not know what i was purchasing, but the guy that sold it to me had down syndrome, so I could not refuse the purchase ...... He broke my Geeky heart.
So ... With the HUGE monster loaded on my PickUp I came home, and watched it stand on a table for like 3 days, Today I got all the Geek inside of me, and tried to set it up .... well I Did But .... there is allways a but ....
Picture looks Almost OK
I Managed to Flip the screen vertically (It was Celing mounted and I Installed on a Table) But. Allso Flipped Horizontally (HELP)
I Managed to almost match the Cross markings on the CRTs, But couldnt make it a Perfect fit. Then I noticed that there is a Screw on the Side, to Move the Red and Blue to "fit" a Screen, Tried playing with it, Looked a bit better, but still, cant make it right.
I Only have the TrackBall Remote, I just found out there is a Service Remote also .... Dont have it ....
Screen is in a weird shape (Trapeeze?) I've tried reading, But I dont understand a lot of what i read, Tried using google to translate, and just made it worst hehehe. So If some one could help us (Me and the Runco) to know each other, It's greatly apreciated.
P.S. Downloaded the manual, but has some pages missing.
P.S. 2 I'm Poor Cold and Lonely I need some TV !!!!
Regards
Alex

Other Question, I've read that the best way to start to setup and converge, is to zero all adjustments, how do you do this?
Regards

Ok.... Here some Pictures
Calibration .... Horizontal is OK, But Vertical, I cant match the Blue and Red with the Green
Picture, with shadows, also, can you see how the screen is not straight on top?
Screen also uses the Celing when it's not on video, also, all text is Backwards.
Insides of the CRT
There is a screw, where I adjusted the screen on both sides (Red & Blue) to be 5'
Any help will be apreciated
Alex

wow do you need a manual. First of all 5 foot is too small you need 80 inches (diagonally) at least. Thats a zenith projector isnt it ?
The trackball remote on the zenith IS A SET UP remote.at least for a 895 or 900 model. Are you in 4 X 3 mode ?
Well at least you are at the right place. the guys on this site (not me) really know their stuff,at least they do when it comes to CRT
not so much on other things, LOL.
You are in for some fun now.

you need to start by changing the posts INSIDE the pj, They are clearly marked FLOOR, CEILING.

By Posts, you mean the Two Wire jumper "type" connections? One Says 789c and 789f right? When i Got it, it was on the C for Celing, and i flipped, and connected to Floor. Image corrected Vertically, but It's all backwards now .... I do not know if there is other adjustment to make.
This is where i Flipped the cables:
(Brown and Yellow)

well, I own a zenith, I also own a sony, they are not even close to the same picture quality but you can still enjoy what you got, I did.
There is also a setting in the on screen menu for floor/ceiling you need to change that too.

The size of your screen is directly related to the distance of the pj to the screen ( THROW ).

NO IT ABSOLUTELY IS NOT!
You need the setup remote for this set. I have one at $100 incl shipping, it's my last one. Without it, you can't adjust anything. The PRO 900 manual on the main site is very similar to the 880 one. Download that, but again, you need the full setup remote.

I am not sure about your jumpers as the pj I have is a different model, but mine cleary read FLOOR/CEILING and if I remember
correctly (not a given these days ) there were 3 of them.
When it comes to remotes I would take Curts word as gospel. That being said, the trackball remote will set up my 900 X. It is a little
hard to get used to though. But I defer to the experts on the 880.

Advice rule # 1- NEVER TAKE ADVICE FROM A STEELER FAN! (kidding!)
You're probably right, you can use the trackball as a setup remote, but I remember trying to use the trackball one for basic adjustments, and it was a huge PITA. Get the right remote.
Jeff, how do you get into the service mode with the trackball? THe service remote has a 'service' button right on it.

hey, if you dont mind could you post a pic of your remote, i'm curious.
Did you download the manual off THIS site ? If not, do so.
There is also a SIZE adjustment on the ON SCREEN MENU once you get the THROW set correctly.

Curt, sorry for the delay, its been so long I had to get out the trackball remote and check to see if I remembered correctly
to go into SETUP , you press down on the trackball and a blue square shows up. Then you scroll that around on the screen and a
box that reads SETUP appears, click on that using the trackball and then you can get into everything. You are right the trackball
is a pain but in can be done,I would prefer the other set up remote if available.

OK , that is NOT the same remote that came with my zenith.
Can you access any other menus than the ones you listed ?
On the zenith sometimes one menu is INSIDE of another menu.
Read the manual first and get your throw and other basic issues fixed first, then I would get deeper into the ACTUAL setup.
You are lucky, There are a bunch of great guys here that will help you any way they can.
They have been putting up with me for awhile now and I hope they always will.
You are in good hands.

I Know I'm in good hands, I Just regret that i'm a bit far and that I will encounter a lot of issues when I need Parts ... Shipping to Mexico Is not cheap, and when you manage to pay for it. Usually, Never Arrives ..... I Just love Customs !!
And, again, thanks for all the help

well, the menus are similiar but you need to get into ALOT more than that to get a proper setup.
Curt is right get as close as you can and get the correct SETUP remote.
