|

moome,
I'm checking out a lightly used EXT-FULLHD v2 (from a member who is getting out of CRT) that I want to buy but he didn't get a remote with it when he purchased it new Spring 2010. (Manufacture date sticker on board is 12/09).
I've read the manual and everything I can find on the EXT-FULLHD v2 and from what I understand no remote ships with the non IR port versions (because the Contrast and Gamma pots handle it all) but the version I have has an IR port, so shouldn't it have come with a remote?
I'm getting no joy turning the C&G screws 20 turns in either direction with a PS3 as the source. Granted I still need to find out if the PS3 is on the same colorspace range as the EXT-FULLHD so that may also be a problem.
It also has the problem where it won't sync on HDMI0, only HDMI1; and even then it takes a minute or two of 'No V-Sync and H Sync out of Range', before it finally syncs. This is an EDID issue that you are offering a fix for yes?
BTW moome, I sent a message to you the other day about this via your website. I'll send it again through this site in case it got filtered out or something.
Thank you!

does the ext auto searching when no HDMI connected?
if not, you have to send back for repair~~

Hi moome, thanks for replying so fast.
When HDMI0 is used the ext searches for a few seconds, the tubes flash on for a split second over and over. The toslink connector light also blinks on at the same time very quickly. This goes on forever until I move the cable to HDMI1. The only dip switches at the K setting are 1 and 3. I moved these to E with the same results.
As far as the remote control goes, could this ext have accidentally shipped without a remote? The member who purchased it is trustworthy and reliable so I don't doubt him when he says it arrived without one.
Thanks moome! I look forward to your reply.

I had a little more time to look at this after work...
With only one source connected, but not powered on (PS3), all three tubes flash quickly a couple times every 10 seconds as soon as the pj is turned on, and then nothing happens for a couple minutes and the process is repeated. The toslink light flashes at the same time this happens (I think...it's hard to see the front of the ext the way I currently have it connected so not 100% sure which LED is flashing at the same time as the tubes).
And yes, when no HDMI is connected the ext searches for input as it should. It just doesn't know how to handle a source; whether it's powered on or not. (See original post relating to sync delays/failures).
Thanks moome. I'll continue looking on the internet for more info while waiting for your reply.

"With only one source connected, but not powered on (PS3)"
do you mean, the PS3 not powered, and EXT is powered. then three tubes flash every 10seconds?

Apologies for the delay...
That's exactly what I mean moome. The PS3 is off, the EXT-FULLHD v2 is powered on and seeks input (alternating red LED's), and all three tubes flash momentarily at the Marquee 8500.
Even with the projector off I've noticed the EXT continues to search for signal on both HDMI0 and HDMI1. I assume this is normal and will just have to disconnect the power to the EXT when I'm not using it.
Last night I tried to get the movie Avatar to work with the EXT and could only get audio passthrough. The only image I could get was horizontal bands and the messages VSync Out of Range, and HSync Out of Range. Using the EXT manual I tried every combination of jumper settings although where I had them positioned when I first connected it should have worked as RGBHV. The EXT was connected to a Marquee 9500 before and worked, but it still had the tube flashing issue when no source was powered on.
To recap, the movie Avatar was in the PS3, the PS3 display settings were set to 720p, connected directly to the EXT with quality Sony 1.3a HDMI cables, then on to the Marquee 8500 RGBHV. I even tried to switch the H&V cables at the projector but still no go.
One thing I didn't try was changing the PS3 output display setting to 1080p. I didn't think of it until today at work. The Marquee 8500 doesn't do 1080p well at all (not mine anyway) and has always displayed an Out of Range message when I've tried.
I put the GammaX and HDFury Gamer back in the chain (I removed the EXT of course) and the image was displayed with no issues.
The manufacture date of this EXT is 12/09. Do I need an EDID update to make this work at 720p?
Thanks! I hope we can get this solved before Christmas as I have guests coming.

FYI,
While playing with moome boxes I discovered that at universal remote TV code works on it. I cannot for the life of me remember which one. it was either Sony, Toshiba or RCA. thats all the tv's I have/had... it was one of them.

I had previously thought about a universal remote and even Googled for some info but came up empty handed as to which remote would work; or if the IR codes were even available.
I just got home from work and figure I'll try setting the PS3 to 1080p output and see what happens.
(Yes, I had to work on Christmas Eve! rackenfrackenbracken mofo's!)
Strange the EXT won't sync with any of it's wide variety of built-in capabilities. It's evidently more exotic than my 'ole 8500. *shrug*
Time for a new thread so as not to muddy my initial question.... which hasn't been answered yet BTW.

although the output resolution is 720P, do you turn off the 1080P 24Hz on PS3, this maybe a issue.
for my PS3, it will auto output 1080P 24Hz when playing blu-ray. so turn off it is a good try~~
you can keep EXT V2 power on when no video input, but we found some EXT V2 will stop searching if keep power on for month. this problem can be fixed by upgrade software by us.
and the EXT V2 will auto searching the inputs, it is normal. but it is very strange the three tube flash when projector is off~~

when setting at 1080P on PS3, can you see the manu for PS3?
if not, you need use shift function ( please refer the EXT V2 datasheet) to let image correctly centered~~
