I hear there are counterfeit Sanyo STK chips out there. Does anyone know if that is true. If so, how can you make sure your not buying bogus ones?
STK392-040 is the part number I'm looking for, there is all kinds of sellers out there, from inexpensive to expensive.
Thanks, Deron.

Ask Curt! In NEC pj-s there are lot of these. For example astig drive board uses 2, and never fails, sure that Curt has some spare, maybe cheaper.

I just used my last ones last night.
You don't usually know. I buy locally from a known supplier. Some places charge insane amounts of money, and one local supplier also manages to sneak some counterfeits in from time to time, so their semi business has dropped once word got out locally. Counterfeits usually have larger writing on them than normal, and if you rub hard, the lettering smears off. That's one way to tell from the ones I've seen here.

Another question.
There are two on the convergence board on a 10PG, 9PG, 6PG... I'm thinking one is for the three horizontal channels (colors) and one is for the three vertical channels (colors). The problem I'm having is the red moves right and left at random times, this has now occurred on more then one convergence board I have. I re-solder the connectors where they are mounted on the board, that seemed to have helped one board. Now I guessing only one of the chips is going bad, the one that controls movement right and left, the horizontal chip. Now does anyone know which is the horizontal chip, would that be described on a schematic?
Thanks, Deron.

IC 8001 controls: BG/SR, AB/SG, BB/SB
IC 8002 controls: AR/DR, BR/DG AG/DB
if this helps
Do you have plain PG? Because if you would have astig (DCPC) drive board, and both STK on that board have an unused channel since no blue astig adjustments, so a semi-defective stk should work in that board -some wiring may need
