I'm busy designing a solar tracking system to accurately aim solar electric panels directly at the sun for maximum capture.
It will even work on cloudy days as it remembers it's position for a spacific time of day. It updates and remembers it's last position every 30 minutes. So it will be pointed in the optimum position even if it can't see the sun. It works with as few as one panel or as many as the budget allows. We're talking lots of zeros here. And that's all I have to say about that. Thumbs Up

You've been watching "Worlds Greenest Homes" haven't you. Some houses spin instead of the panels to catch the sun. Seriously cool thing to do.

This has been done so many times. These tracking devices are all over the place to buy. I was working on designing one myself that is microprocessor controlled but soon found it was a waste of time. With all the government and power company subsidies available right now, just have the darn thing installed with the system.

This is good ol' 80's BUD technology, people converted those to solarcookers, after they got DiSH.

SO we're back to the 1920s/30s, when they build small rotating cabins/houses to let TBC sufferers recuperate 'outdoors'.

The main problem is not catching enough heat, but making sure the house doesn't catch or store too much heat in the living areas.

Well, when you watch those shows it sure sounds like a good idea. I'm not talking about small cabins though. Some are 2-3,000 sq ft rotating on a central post to capture heat/ reflect heat depending on the season. The technology has come a long way since the 20's-30's.

Take a looky...

Looks like a 19th century battery (big gun/cannon array), except much lighter, as it isn't loaded with 1.1 meter thick steel armour. Today only the (restored) ruins remain the steelwork has been gone for decades.

The wooden structure looks a lot like that of a windmill, those buildings have been dominating the Dutch skyline starting in the 1500s, so modern but very old technology, indeed;-).

The instrctables just built a polar mount, how 1970s/80s, LOL.
