I'll be doing my usual outside theater using a big goone Barco industrial projector shooting through a porthole in the garage onto a dualview screen and 3 channel sound. I usually do three movies. The first for the little kids will be Monsters VS Aliens and for the later older kids, the latest remake of Wolfman. The movie in the middle to be decided later.
The subject comes up now because I had the screen set up for Xmas movies last year and a wind storm tore my screen material. I am now looking for new material.

You should show Nightmare before Christmas! I love that movie.

We usually have a Halloween party... But, one of the couples we hang out with decided to have their own this year, so I guess we're either going to compete for a lot of the same guests or we're not having a party this year. Rolling Eyes

On the movie theme, I have a couple of Halloween movie recommendations...

Corpse Bride
Everybody's probably seen this already, but if you haven't you should. Great music, good story, and very nice picture.

Coraline
If you like a good story and stop-frame animation, this movie is beautiful. Excellent characters, music, and story. It was all shot on a high-res digital still camera, so the Blu-ray is stunningly free from noise or other artifacts. Total reference quality. A little scary at times, so only appropriate for older kids.

The Strangers
NOT for kids. Starring Liv Tyler. Psychological/suspense thriller. Tiny budget, but one of the best scary movies I've ever seen. Excellent surround sound really amps up the scary factor with this one. Takes place pretty much in one locale, all dark, very dark. If you watch this in a room with good sound, late at night, with the lights all off, you WILL be scared.

House of 1,000 Corpses
If you dig macabre, don't mind a lot of profanity, and you have a twisted sense of humor, this Rob Zombie film is a damn good time. Even better if you like Rob Zombie's music, because there's plenty of it in the movie. A little scary, mostly twisted, and awesome if you're in to that kind of thing. Wink

Oh, those are all available on BD. Wink

I gotta go with the unrated version of THE EXORCIST but it is REALLY not for anyone under 18.
Scares me in any light.

That picture for The Strangers is giving me the creeps right now.

Unfortunately with a wife that scares easily and two young ones, (and one that likes to stay up to midnight) I haven't seen a "newer" scary movie in 3 years. Crying or Very sad

Damn, we had to turn off Date Night last night because of all the violence. WTH...they can't make a movie anymore without blowing something up!
