|
|
I sat and watched CSI, went downstairs to get coffee and in the stair up i heard a faint "crack" sound, when i came up the image was gone.
I can't get any image at all, no menus, no nothing. All service leds inside light normally, i think i hear HV working, sync led's on input board lights as it should.
I tried my sparepart 1208, and on that i have picture.. Led's on itīs boards light same as 1208/2.
Where should i start looking?

Is there a Red LED lit on the EHT module ? Also check the fuse on the EHT. Do you hear the high voltage charge come up on the CRTs ?

Gahhh.. Yes there is. I missed that one. Stupid me, i had the same problem 2 years ago on the spare, so i bought 2 of those big transistors that usually break. Hope it is just the transistor.

Why not the powertransistor on the EHT module? Why the worse?

I will check the fuse, but not until tomorrow or later. Don't have time right now.

Yep most likely the quad but hope for the splitter. At least it sounds like you have a spare projector/quad. Seems like a lot of Barco quads have blown up as of late. Lets hope this trends stops soon.

Personally I'm pretty impressed they last as long as they do putting out 35kv in such a small package !

If start with the EHT module and it is not that, can i just swap out either quad or splitter without risking they too blow?
I mean could there be any shorts blowing the new ones?

Although I haven't dealt with quads before, after looking at the schematics of different EHTs and reading alittle I would be careful putting different quads with different EHTs.

As long as you stick with old style quad/old style EHT or new/new you will be fine. I have been running my Runco 1100 which originally came with new style quad/EHT with an old style 808 quad and EHT. There is absolutely no issue and this combo must have at least 500 hours on them now. That said if there is a problem in the HV area and you could blow a good part if there is a bad part. Personally if one has a second projector with a known good quad and EHT I'd swap them together just to be safe.

I suppose you could pull the HV lead off the splitter (making sure it doesn't touch anything) and see if the Red led on the EHT goes off before you swap the quads.

i tested the eht in my spare and there is nothing wrong with it.
So i pulled the HVT lead on the splitter, and the red error light went out. So to be sure i plugged it in again,
Stangely enough the red led does not light up now, and i hear a "bzzzz" a couple of seconds then the normal hv sound.
Could something else broken just because i plugged HV lead out and in again?
What would happen if there was a short in a tube? Wouldn't that create the same symptom with red led?
What should i do next? Swap both quad and splitter?

Hard to diagnose at a distance. what exactly did you do with the HV lead? I wonder if you killed something else? If it were me I'd swapped the known good quad and EHT in the other pojector. In fact since you confirmed the EHT works in the other projector you could just swap the quad. With this new issue I don't know. Put I'd probably swap the quad anyway and see what happens.

I took out the spitters today and notice that the have different partnumbers, but they look exactly the same. The same applies to the quad, also visually the same but different numbers.
The splitter in the 1208 : 7617447/2/9416 on plastic sticker: 1051200
1208/2 : 7617447/2/9442 on plastic sticker: 1055632
Maybe i should swap both quad and splitter to be sure they work together?

I am sure the only "significant" number is the 76xxxxxx number which is the same on both parts. I have worked on lots of Barcos and have never had any problems using parts with the same 76xxxxxxx number. Also the 1051200 and 1055632 are the projector serial numbers most likely. When the projectors come from the factory Barco puts the serial number of the projector on every part near enough. Very handy in determining what parts have been replaced. As far as I understand it there are new HV pieces and old HV pieces and the dividing line is somewhere in 1999 production date. Based on the model number of your projectors they have to be pre-1999 and by a few years. Personally I don't believe you need to swap the splitter but it doesn't hurt either since you know the one in the spare projector is good.
