I have heard (not seen a 9x9 SEOS unit) that there were no mods to that series as the controls provided by Barco were more than sufficient to do what was necessary for simulation.

If that is the case, then that is one more point in favor of buying them.
As for a shootout, I plan on going to Nashs, but I am also going to ask Scott if they want to check these out.

Agreed for the price. The only thing I'd worry about is I have heard from both Greg Eisemann and I think I have seen Mike Parker post as well that there are a number of issues with 909 (I seem to recall the SMPS and controllers being issues). That said maybe the 21k hours works for you as in theory anything that is likely to go wrong has likely gone wrong and has been repaired.
