they were sitting around $600 with 20 mins to go so I put in a bid of $800 just to have it on my bid list.. by the time I was done bidding they were over $2k so I knew I was out
I was expecting them to sell for $5k or so as it was, but I'm driving an empty truck with a bunch of moving pads right through there next tuesday on my way back to NJ so I figured I'd be a shame to not take a crack at 'em.. of course they went supernova -- but were probably still really cheap in the end even though they'll probably need a bunch of work if they're modded for curved screens like the rest of them.
Too bad they didn't list them individually like most of the other sites do, since I only "needed" one to play with!
If the winner is in the northeast (and only wants 7 of them + some modest cash) I can pick them up

I bailed at $4K. I think one set went for $4700, the other at $5200?
Not sure if anyone here will cop to owning them.
By the time you add the 10% surcharge, customs and shipping to me, it would have been over $1500 a set, and that's just not worth it for something I can't see.
But.. if someone did end up with them here, I'd be interested in buying one or four... I REALLY need a test chassis here...

And you wonder why you were my number one guess for the person most likely to have grabbed the 909 at UB?

Ok 'ill spill some of the beans. I am only partially sick but another member here is sicker than I.
I let a person know about them after forum member Guest Enterprises posted a question about a SEOS Parados 919 Projector, i did a search and the Gov auction was the first hit. He then realized his mistake and deleted the post.
I then asked a member who i know was going to CEDIA to stop buy and look at them,we were going to go in together on them and split them up. I decided I only wanted to bid up to 2k but he said screw it i'm going for the gold. he almost ended up with all 8 which he really didnt want.
So I promised I'd take one off his hands.
These all work and have HFQ 900 lenses. And I now have to pay for this and Tims HD10E's i promissed to buy !
Looks like the repair to my driveway will have to wait till next spring.
I wonder if Guest Enterprises got the other Lot?

I don't think it was Guest. I talked to him yesterday and during the auction. He said he wanted one, at $500 tops. I was going to give him one at whatever the costs ended up being, but I got outbid. A few people emailed me about this auction since about 10 days ago. I'm wondering if Terry is still in the game and grabbed the other 4.
In the condition that the pix showed them to be, I wasn't going as high as you were...

I don't think so... I think that was way more money than he was thinking he'd have to spend. Definitely more money than I'd want to spend without getting eyes-one first. I know the HFQ900's are gold, but they could also get thrashed in shipping, and if those machines are missing boards... Yikes. Could be a great score or a pretty disappointing fail.

Curt my source said the insides were very clean and the tubes were also really good. probably re tubed but they did have a very slight
wear pattern that is not the normal rectangle.
Also what mods have to be done to these? I hears SEOS PJ's need some changes to bring them back to stock.
Crab he started them all up with the laptop he brought along, yeah this guy is that good

Yeah, if I'd known they were complete, I would have gone higher, but I remember a guy emailing me a few years ago looking for Marquee 9000 parts. At the time I had nothing, as the 9" sets were still gold, even a MArquee 9000. He told me he was looking for everything in the set, as he'd paid $5K for one from Gov Liquidation, and when he got it, every board was out of the set. The pix showed a set with all the covers on, which is what he got.
Ditto for Terry and the 2 pallets of 'new' tubes he bought a few years ago as well. They were all used tubes, put back in new boxes. He argued with Gov, saying they were not what they claimed they said the tubes were, but they refused a refund. IN the end he didn't pick them up and reversed the charges on his credit card. I think he told me that either he got blacklisted or THOUGHT he'd get blacklisted by the gov't. Not sure what happened, so don't quote me.
Still, $1400ish for a complete 919 is a good deal, even with toasted tubes, but these chassis are really temperamental, they're kinda like a G90...

No, the quads are the least of your problems.
This is a total redesign of the Barco chassis. The only thing the same as the older sets are the EHT section and the video switcher/quad decoder.
The SMPS, V board and H board, etc are completely different and a real bitch to work on if they have problems... and they do.
Anyways, if they end up being high hour or problematic units, or you simply want to get rid of one or two, let me know. As I said, I need one as a test set here, as I'm starting to get 909/919 board repairs and the one chassis I had here got parted out as a customer overseas needed the motherboard that got damaged in shipping.
