I need to know where my glycol bubble that I just created yesterday went after only about 6 hours of hard crt runtime.

I just finished a marathon of glycol bleeding on 15 XG tubes (all air coupled). All were under pressure, and some relieved themselves of up to 1.2 ml of glycol before I even withdrew any for the bubble. This is scary.

I did this in preparation for another wear-balancing procedure on a green CRT. Since the tube face gets very hot I wanted to make sure that there was some expansion room for the glycol. The freshly created bubble is shown here:

After running the tube hot for about 6 hours I went looking for the bubble, first on-screen, then by looking in the lens, and I couldn't see it. I pulled the lens and there was nothing to be seen. I thought that since the tube was very hot at the time that I had compressed all of the bubble (meaning I should probably draw some more glycol out later).

The problem is that after cooling, only a 1/16" bubble has returned.

I think the border silicone glass seal was probably stretched before relieving the pressure, because when I first pulled the screw the fluid drained rapidly at first but continued to slowly accumulate for at least a few minutes thereafter. It acted like something was relaxing after sustained pressure for some time.

Would heat from running the CRT have caused continued relaxation of the silicone, effectively compressing my big bubble into the remaining 1/16" bubble? There has been no leakage since the bleeding.

My guess is that since that Glycol is hygroscopic it just took in some water from the air. I am not sure by you it might of been a humid day that you drained off some of the Glycol. http://www.curtpalme.com/Bleeding_CRT_Tubes2.shtm where I got my information from .
