Someone would like to send me an Extron box from Canada for my CRT but in PM there was mention of having to fill out ten pages of custom's paperwork. When sending my boards to Curt I really didn't have to fill out much of anything. I recall the suggestion to write "Defective Boards" on the form. I don't want this person to have to go to that much trouble for me. Is it complex sending a switcher box from Canada to the USA?

Yup, if sending via Canada Post (cheapest way, but twice the expected price of USPS), it's one piece of paper.

This same small (usually green) customs form/sticker that goes on the outside of the package is used worldwide when sending from any country to another country. It's a standard form used wordwide. Nothing to do specifically when going from Canada to the US. If you send anything to another country, you're supposed to fill it in. If you do not, the guy at the mail counter is not doing is job.
