hy there, i have a Sony VPH 1271 Projector with HD8 lenses. The blue tube has a medium wear wich disturbs the projection if i'm trying to set the image larger than the wear. So i'm looking for a new tube.
I could upload an image of my tube, so you can see the wear. I would rate it between 5 and 6. I also would exchange the tube if anyone can refurbish it.
Whats the actual price for such a tube, if they are quite available?! Does anyone have a used one in good condition? Also a light wear on the new tube would be no problem. The wear just needs to be big enough and not as small as mine is.
edit:
in the manual, i cant find the right tube description, do i need 07msp or 07msu tubes for the Sony vph 1721 qm?

You might be able to find a nice used blue tube from somebody parting a machine out, but other than that, they're getting pretty scarce these days. Expect to pay probably $100-150 or so, probably.
The 1270 and 1271 both had 07mp tubes originally, but from what I've read, you should be able to use the newer 07msp (from a 1252 or 1272) no problem if you can find one.

Originally they were $750 each from Sony, but are long discontinued. ebay is your best bet, I sold a new 07MP for $90 a few months ago on eBay, they do show up there in good used shape from time to time as well for less.
The 07MS will not work.

okay, i'm trying to keep my eyes open for a 07MP/MSP tube on ebay. i paid just 20€ for the projector so the price of 90$ per tube would be a good deal. the other 2 tubes are rating 9,10. in the meantime i'm going to do a good astigmatism setup on green and red...
thanks for the fast replies, so i know what i have to watch for.

Maybe it was just a typo, but you do NOT want an 07MS!
07MS - NO
07MP - YES
07MSP - YES

I figured - just double-checking.
Good luck with the hunt!
