Does the intro theme sound like crap normally? Or is it just pushing my cheapy Monoprice in-ceiling speakers way past their limits? I can't tell if it is supposed to sound like crap like it is an old track or something.

Thanks.

The crackling at the start is part of the soundtrack,it's a Tarrantino trademark. So no,there's nothing wrong with your system.

When in doubt just turn the sound down. If it still sounds all crackly then it's part of the soundtrack (assuming you haven't completely blown the speakers).

I did but just wanted to make sure because I haven't seen anything like that before. For some reason the dynamics in this movie are pretty crazy. One second I have the receiver on 40 during dialogue and the VERY next second there is a gun shoot out that is making my daughter cry in the next room over because it is crazy loud.

I hate that when I am watching it in the living room.

I love the opening music in this one, it really sets the tone for the film.

What a great movie....

Lt. Aldo Raine: [Aldo shoots Hans' driver Hermann, and gives Utivich a knife] Scalp Hermann.
Col. Hans Landa: Are you mad? What have you done? I made a deal with your general for that man's life!
Lt. Aldo Raine: Yeah, they made that deal, but they don't give a f*ck about him. They need you.
Col. Hans Landa: You'll be shot for this!
Lt. Aldo Raine: Nah, I don't think so. More like chewed out. I've been chewed out before.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

not sure how you do your sound playback, but many sound processors have a feature that modifies the sound track to bump-up vocals and tone-down loud sound effects so as not to wake the youngsters, blow-up grandpa's hearing aides, etc. I know my Outlaw audio unit and old pioneer unit both have this capability...
