Hello fellow CRTers, hope everyone is enjoying in the delights of their projector(s).

Just a question I hope someone may know the answer to.

Occassionally my Barco 500 Data will switch off the guns (black screen) and give no 2nd YELLOW LED and a RED LED highlighting a fault.

My only fix to date is to turn off the unit and cool it down with a fan as I've come to think it's overheating.

It happened today so as a process of elimination I've temporarily mounted a fan to blast the heat away from the motherboards and it seems to be doing the job.

Unfortunately I don't have a legend to explain what each LED represents.

If it *is* overheating I'll invest in making a cooling system to pull air through the roof via air ducts.

Many thanks in advance for suggestions. Thumbs Up

Paul.

Thanks for the feedback Mr Palme. If it persists I'll pull the card and arrange to have it looked at by yourself. Thumbs Up

First a dead pixel in the middle of my TV now this... turning into an interesting week. Rolling Eyes

Regards,

Paul.

Can anyone recommend a specialist or service/repair engineer in the UK that deals with Barco CRTs.

I still seem to be having this scan fail fault on -17v.

Shipping to Mr Palme USA is a bit impractical.

The projector is obviously trying to tell me that something is wrong. I've tried looking at the schematics and it seems to point to the power supply.

Cheers.

Buy a board from Curt and save postage one way and at the same time get a tested part. Postage is not that big a deal. I buy parts regularly from Curt and others in the US and I live in Australia. Good parts make all the difference particularly as these projectors get older.

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate what you're saying though I was kinda hoping to have the whole CRT assessed as opposed to just swapping out parts in a process of elimination.
