I just called and its closed but you can not leave any messages. I sent a pm to MP as well since he is in MD, not sure how far away.

This post just started a new page so I'll post the info again.

The G90 and its mount was taken to The Montgomery County Solid Waste Transfer Station and recycling center beside the metro station at Shady Grove Rd. and Rt. 355.

Tony says they put it I the scrap rather than recycling pile even though we indicated there were precious metal and other recyclable materials inside.

Mike is only 30 minutes from there, looks like he is the best solution to save a great PJ if it wasn't damaged at all.
Cross your fingers !!

what the hell is wrong with that place? Did the OP request the thread be removed?
Maybe he felt foolish after letting his Idiot installer haul a projector still worth thousands of dollars to the dump?

It ironic you said that. Alan just moved to FL and sold his souped up marquee 9500LC. well i just got a PM from hima half hour ago asking what to get cause he still thinks CRT is better than any Digital he's seen. He once told me he gets frustrated that he can not post his thoughts cause Digital is what he sells now and it would go against the new business model. I can't blame him though. He did post a few time on the CRT forum about it but then deleted the threads after he came to his senses.
So he's looking for another Marquee... Very Happy

so did anyone get in contact with the recycler, or is it gone? Just curious. With all the hoopla, at least tell us if some A-hole got lucky with a score or not Laughing

I still think the whole thing smells like a bag of dead rats. Frankly I don't believe a word of any of it. The original poster is just a troll out to get your goats, and there IS no G90. Not in his house, not with an installer, not in the recycling yard, and not in the dump.

It does seem like a Troller...."Hey I've got this G90" .... then as soon as someone responds.... "oh it's gone"......

Well Mike called and they said they new nothing about it. So you could say it was a troll or they are too busy with so much junk that they didn't bother looking for it etc.

I tried to call a few times today and there was always someone on the phone according to the automated answering system. So I think this is as much as we'll ever know.

Unless mike scored it and is keeping it a secrete Wink lol

I reckon the Installer knew exactly what he had and used the recycler as an excuse to score a g90.

Either that of the OP is starved of attention!

Yeah, I would have to say the installer kept it and came up with the recycler excuse. You can't be a pro installer and not know what a G90 is and what it can do. He / she probably kept it for themselves, or look for the carcus on fleabay soon. I feel bad for the poor schmoe that paid to downgrade!

Some of the HT operations in this area actually do have some tech's that are that green, that they would pitch a G90. taking it to the landfill is what's hard for me to believe.

I've never in my years known of a de-install that removed things to the landfill. It was always removed and taking back to the operation that was doing the work.

The exception I could buy is that the device or unit being removed had a special hazardous label that required that it be taking directly to the landfill. There are just too many dumpsters and trash bins everywhere in Montgomery County for me to believe that somebody drove that G90 to the landfill.....never been to that landfill, but every other landfill that I'v been to in this area had a waiting line to make sure you took the item to the right area.....they are all too into recycling and making sure they can profit off of the things that come there.

I just don't believe it ever made it to any landfill..

That's not a landfill - it's a transfer station 1 mile from my house. They rail the trash to an incinerator and have a major recycle operation. TVs and things like reusable building material go in the same enclosure. Other drops for metal and recycleables. Maybe I will wander over tomorrow (read this after 8 when it closes) but they have very strict policy against taking things out of recycle.

Yep I grew up in Montgomery County and went there many times. The reason folks are getting no place is that this is a government operation and they probably cannot sell you the projector so they don't care. If it really did go there it is probably gone/destroyed now (not that I wouldn't look if I still lived in the DC area).

After re reading this whole thing again, I tend to have to go with CJ, Look how worried everyone is over this one projector! I can only imagine if someone heard a company was throwing 3 of them in the dumpster. Some would probably start to cry.

I think the poster of the email knows what a G90 is, and decided to have some fun. I'm sorry but I dont know of many who would throw a G90 away, even idiots who dont know what a G90 or even a CRT projector is.

I'll bet its all to pull our chains :p

Advice to others not to waste time with the transfer station. Went there and staff at the building material and tv/electronics recycle enclosure hadn't seen one; nor the metal recycle but unlikely to have gone there. That leaves the regular rail car trash bins which are for general purpose trash and nothing is accessible or viewable. I kind of think it unlikely it was dumped but possible where time is money. As others speculate perhaps there will be a G-90 on the market ina couple months after this thread is history.

One surprise on my visit was seeing one of the two 150 ton rail car cranes sitting all twisted up like a pretzel after last weekend's thunderstorm here. Total loss (there are stillsome folks in County w/o power)
