I have just set my BD80 HDMI setting to ON in the setup menu and what a positive difference that has made to the PQ. There are certainly more colours but the bit that really got my attention is the image is notably sharper and I am wondering why that would be the case.

I have a BD80 HDMI port to Moome MUX-HD then to DV-D port on Lumagen ProHDP and then PJ.

The BD player is outputting 1080i and the Lumagen is outputting 1080i/96. I have not changed anything other that turning on the HDMI in the setup on the BD80.

I have now connected a DVD player via its HDMI output to the MUX-HD and again the image is sharper than that obtained via the component connection.

So what is HDMI doing that make the image sharper??

Whether it is Blu-Ray or standard DVD, by now implementing the use of the HDMI out digital connection you are now capable of obtaining the full upscaling and video processing power of the players. These features are not available in an analog-only component out connection.

Thanks Ron for your input.

So the sharper image is simply because its a digital output Question
