Yeah I think its just the Coil , but its cool your getting it taken care of. Id like to see if it is in fact the coil once curt gets the old tube assembly back from you.

After further discussion with Curt, he believes the tube is the culprit. Shame as it's a new LUG. I think he'll be sending me a new LCP, which will match my Red and Blue. Probably not a bad idea to to use all LCP versus mixing a LUG in there.

Are you sending back the LUG? Hope Curt lets us know what was the problem. i have a bad focus coil that would not focus on the left side. remove the connector and all fuzzy just like you described. I'm just curios to see what curt finds out.

Haven't discussed a return yet. Curt did JUST tell me that another LUG may replace this one. It depends on what tubes he gets in this week.

Yes, the old tube definitely has to come back, just put it in the same box as the one I send you, and I'll give you my US address to send it to to save some $$ in shipping costs.

If you are using a stock Thomson focus coil, I can understand how this would happen as that focus coil's static
magnetic field is generated by six cylindrical magnets arranged cage-fashion between two steel plates. If some
of those cylindrical magnets are under strength, it will result in asymmetrical magnetic field and non-uniform
focus performance.

But if you're using K-D yokes, frankly I would be at a loss to explain how THOSE yokes could generate an asymmetrical
magnetic field as all of their magnetic elements are ring shaped and magnetized through the faces. Unless you have
a broken or cracked ring element. That would certainly create non-uniformity in the generated field.

Focus Coil..........or a very very very bad CPC
When we were running some tube tests a few months ago, we found a bad focus coil that acted similar in the test Marquee chassis we were using which had been stored for a few years. Could not focus. Replaced coil and everything was OK. First one I have seen that was bad, so we know it can happen. We have see bad CPC's as well a few times.
Crud in the tube usually shows up as noise.

Hi Terry!

Curt mentioned getting the new green LUG from Terry. Would that be you? Wink

It very well could have been the focus coil, but Curt offered to replace the whole assembly. Other than the green focus issue, the projector is fantastic. Adding the new green will make it complete.
