|
|
My BD player just took a dump so I am looking for another one. The Sherwood I have now is a PITA for setting the 1080i signal, every time I turn it on I have to reset from 1080p. , its way to much drama. Is there a BD player out there with a set and forget for the 1080i signal for say under 300$?????? My NEC XG110 can't quite handle 1080p.
Thanks in advance, Rick.

Stay away from Samsung,
Sony's remember their settings. Maybe look at the BDP-s360
What do you use for sound? Make sure you get the player you need. If you need 7.1 analog out make sure to get a player with that option. If you are using optical or HDMI for sound you'll save some money

My Samsung has been working fine for over a year...
BDP-3600
Also had the LG 370 and it worked fine.
Going from player to HDFury GE, to monoprice switcher, to NEC switcher, to projector.

My Panasonic BD-80 will remain at 1080i or 720P for months on end and it's even un-plugged when the HT isn't in use. I imagine if you left it unplugged for a very long time and drained the internal battery it might revert back to factory defaults though? Great player though, not one hiccup or rejected disc, even played Avatar

Ok, thanks for all the good advice! I finally hooked up the Sony and imagine that, it stays on 1080! Very cool and my wife can use the HT room now.
Thanks, Rick.

Not to be too much of a smart-ass, but a $50 universal remote will solve this problem! Just have the start up macro wait a second and send the resolution change.
One nice thing about the Lumagen is that you can tell it what EDID you want it to send. My Lumagen tells my LG that it will only accept 1080p/24 and 480i/60. Since 1080p/24 is preferred, as long as the lumagen is turned on first, my LG comes up on 1080p/24. If I pop in a DVD, the LG switches to 480i/60.
