Have a ATI HD4890 1g card. Using 2nd head for pj. Can not seem to get windows to see the custom resolutions created in Pstrip. Need to know how to fix.

Hey Studio, don't you just set it in powerstrip and go? I don't think I've used the ati control panel or windows after installing powerstrip and setting it up.

Win 7 doesn't work that way. Needing a EDID file for barco.

try manually loading a inf file for the "monitor". I'm using windows 7, ATI and powerstrip and don't think I have this problem.

How do you set it up for the different film formats? 4:3, 16:9, 2.35:1, 2.40:1 etc? In powerstrip can you change the pixels at will. I have made custom resolutions inside PStrip but win7 won't let them be active. I have Admin rights on everything.

I run 1080i@96 with my bg808s. I mostly feed it bluray movies but some 16x9 content. I don't change anything in powerstrip when I switch between formats. I thought about making some masking but haven't got around to it yet.

In Pstrip you can setup different setting to deal with the format changes. This is what I'm trying to do.

I'm not sure what is going on. I can't seem to get any image on the pj out of the computer setup now. I had just got it working with Pstrip @ 1920x1080p last week. If I hook up 2 lcd's to the ATI HD4890 card they display fine. I have been having power issues. I borrowed a 550w PS to see if the problem would go away, but it didn't. Once in a while I will get a faint blackened image, it's skewed. I can get an image fine with my PS3 & a HDFury2 (see screenshot thread). Is there a resolution that will be easy to display without special timing. Not sure what to do??

Why would you?

Just run 1080p at 72hz and be done with it.

If you need to run a multiple of 25fps for Euro tv, setup a 75hz res as well.

You can created powerstrip command line shortcuts to change refresh rate, like this for 1080i 96hz:

"C:\Program Files\PowerStrip\PStrip.exe" /target:1 /t:1920,112,128,115,1080,46,7,30,126874,542

The projector doesn't like the timings you are sending it.

This is nothing to do with the Powersupply in the PC(eh??).

No you don't, you need a monitor driver and you need to turn off EDID in the ATI CCC.

Attached is one for an XG-1101LC. It will do. Edit the max scanrate and rename it if you like.

I got it. When I had set my pj up a couple of weeks ago, I had the computer right next to the pj with a short video cord. I had bought a 25ft HD15 to BNC cord. I have had problems since. I moved the computer back close to the pj and it worked. So now the question is what do I need between my pj and the computer? How would I know if this cable is bad?

Thanks

Can you test the cable with a CRT monitor?

Do you have one with BNC inputs?

No I don't. Should you need a amplifier normally for this distance or not?

Usually not.

But I do use an NEC switcher to drive my cable of similar length.

Mark,

It was the cable. Now that I'm getting a image, one of the things I would like to do is to get the pj to project at it's highest possible resolution. Run a test pattern at that resolution to get everything adjusted and go forward from there. I can't seem to get it in windows to go to 2500 x 2000. In Pstrip I create a new user resolution of 2500x2000 it tells me that it needs to restart but I can never get it to this resolution. The highest I have been able to get win to see is 1920x1440. I am using the monitor.inf method. Any ideas?
Thanks

Why on earth would you want to go further than 1920x1080?

Higher is not better, it will just get blurrier.

My thinking was for setting up the pj , focus, alignment, etc only.

No, you should do it at the resolution you intend to use.

I would use 1920x1080 at 71.928hz on a 1209s.
