Ok, I am trying to set-up my iScan VP50 scaler to output 1080i96 for my 9PG but can only get the scanrate up to 75. Could somebody please explain if it is possible or, what I am doing wrong. I have only set this up with standard HD resolutions before and the manual has left me wanting to say the least. If it helps I can only see 24, 48, 60 and 72 locked modes. In unlocked the max is 75. To tell you all the truth I do not even know if I am looking at the proper thing to set-up the 96.

Any help would help

James

James, You need to change the VP50 to advanced user mode first to allow you to set up custom timings..
The setting is under the Configuration menu and listed as user mode ..

Quote from Manual:
User Mode
You have limited access to the output timing controls in ‘Normal’ mode. In ‘Advanced’
user mode, you have access to the complete set of output timing controls. Push the
q button to see the current setting and the FPD displays either ‘Normal’ or ‘Advanced’ user level.
Push the q button again to select the alternate mode. The default setting is ‘Normal’.

Cheers...

Cinema,

I thought that I was in Advanced mode but, I double checked just to be sure nothing changed. According to the unit I am in Advanced mode. I also checked and I have the newest firmware.

Framerate options I have are as follows.

Framerate > 24Hz>24Hz Lock
48Hz Lock
60Hz Lock
72Hz Lock
Unlock (can only reach a max of 75Hz)
25Hz>25Hz Lock
50Hz Lock
75Hz Lock
Unlock (again can only reach 75Hz)
50Hz> same as 25Hz
60Hz> same as 24Hz

I can not help but think that I am confusing the meaning of the 96Hz between another setting. Or am I wrong and is the unit just not capable of anything higher then 75Hz?

Thanks for the help.

James

Hi James,
Here is a quick example from memory for setting up A custom interlaced res:

After inputing A 1080i @60Hz input signal into the VP50 Pro, then from the VP50pro You need to select A Standard Resolution that closest matches the resolution you are wanting to use in the "OUTPUT FORMAT" menu, In this this case select 1080i @60, then go into "FRAME RATES" menu select unlock and up the frame rate to 96i by pressing the up arrow navigation keys on the front panel or remote then "OK"..

Save as A profile..

Cheers..

Good to here you got it sorted James,

Yes you need to make sure the Source component is always set to 1080i @60hz not 1080p 24/60hz to work correctly..

Dont forget to save your custom res as A profile so the VP50 will work seamlessly when inputting 1080i ..

cheers..

James, I have owned a DVDO VP50 for a couple of years for scaling in my home theater. The maximum frame rate is limited to the maximum pixel clock and the output resolution set for the unit. For me with a 1920x1080 pixel projector the maximum frame rate is 60 Hz. I use 48 Hz for my projector (2x24) as my projector will not display 24 Hz properly (bug). I think for CRT projectors with a 817x1080 one can achieve a 72 Hz frame rate (24*3) but that is about the limit. I don't know of any video processors that can output 96 Hz frame rate. Not even a Lumagen.

CRGINC remember we are talking 1080 interlaced not Progressive ..

Thus The VP50/50pro can output 1080 96i as this is still under the bandwidth limit of 165Mhz

Cheers
