I've seen a few BG808s projectors (and own one myself)
They all suffered from the 'candle flicker' effect, but only during dark scenes in movies it is noticable.
I learned to live with it, because apart from this slight, low IRE flicker, the overall image quality of my BG808s is very good.
I selected three HD8-B lenses on optical quality, and this improved the image quality of my BG808s noticably.
I was amazed by the difference in quality I found in different HD8-B lenses !
Regards,
HDD.

That is interesting. Mine was pretty bad and I saw it on the 1208s/2 I owned and that uses the same neck boards though those were different examples than the oned that gave me the issue in the 808s Data. What is interesting is my Runco 1100 (Barco 1209s) made in 2000 has the same neckboards but doesn't do this. I sort of suspected, but never tested, that it was something in the HV section interacting with those boards. I swapped out the EHT board and Quad and that made no difference but the HV splitter was never swapped because of the hassle of desoldering the wire to it (it was on my ceiling and I was lazy). My Barco 1209s has the new style splitter in it though I had to swap in the old style quad and EHT but whatever it does NOT flicker at all.
My flicker was pretty bad I could see it in a lot of scenes but of course I was looking for it once I saw it .

Does the Cine8 have the streaking problem?

Are you sure?
In these days I'm trying to figure out if the problem of my projector is just the controller.
The controllers of the two versions look identical, except of course the software.

No it uses the 120 MHz neck boards which don't streak.

I believe any 808 controller will work.

Interesting, because my BG808s doesn't have flickering at any IRE level and I'm super sensitive to flickering. For example if I use gamma circuit or use anything lower than 75Hz refreshrate flickering drives me crazy.
Once I had something similar when one tube was partially shorted, but few hours running with crt run in cycles -function burned debris from tubes gun assembly. Loud snap once in while and projector shutting down after that is symptoms of partly shorted tube.
Are you sure that your G2 aren't adjusted too high?

I have seen this as well on several but NOT all S series Barcos with the 120 MHz boards and also a Data S which I put the 120 MHz boards into. I adjusted G2 per the Barco manual for all. I found references to this being a known issue on some European forums and mention of a fix but no explanation of the fix. Maybe Curt has seen it. Also it was on all three tubes and and in the Data S when I put the 75 MHz neckboards back in, it went away so I think we can eliminate the tubes as an issue. My current Runco 1100 does not have the problem at all.
Edit: Just to add the flickering of the brightness is random in duration and magnitude like a candle hence the name, it is for sure not refresh flicker which is, at least to me very uniform.

On my PJ the green is streaking, and it has the 120 MHz neck boards.
Should I try swapping Neck/output boards?
The blue has a similar 721 board, but the red has a 721-02 (appears to have newer parts) for some reason.
Thanks

Thanks | If you use bnc input, try first to swap R/G bnc's to be sure it's not sourse related.
Then swaping two neck boards would be good idea, to see if problem follow.

I swapped BNCs and it's still just on the green. I forgot to mention that streaks also appear beside the green bar of the internal menu. Will try swapping boards tonight.
Where on the boards should I check for the crappy Sanyo chip and what numbers am I looking for? I noticed that all 3 of my boards have different parts, but not sure that is of any consequence.
Thanks
