Ok, so someone pointed this to me and I am passing it along to you. Seems like a better Nicolas Cage vehicle.

Kick Ass: Hit Girl trailer

On one hand I'm like "cool", and on another hand I'm like we have a kid who's swearing and killing people. I'm not quite sure what to think about it.

Yeah, I hear ya, but she is 13 and when I was that age that kind of language wasn't new to me or my peers at all.

Yeah, but there's a huge difference between accepting that kids know the language (and probably even use it when they're not in adults' company) and making a movie that glorifies and makes it cool... All the while telling our kids that they shouldn't talk like that, and that it isn't cool to talk like that. Mixed signals.

Beyond that, it just looks like Shoot 'Em Up, but with a little girl. A little girl who's an assassin... RRRRRiiiiggghhttttt... Lame. Couldn't they at least start with a PREMISE that's half-way believable?!?!?!

I'm glad you brought that up. The Professional is an example of a GOOD movie with a reasonably-believable premise.

I just ignored it. I don't see how it has any relevance to this thread. I think WanMan already posted about it in another thread, anyway.

Maybe it's because I have a little girl of my own, but the more I think about this movie, the more repulsed by it am. A 13-year old girl that drops the profanity and oh, by the way... Kills people. Neat.

This stupid film is yet another kick in the balls for all us parents that are trying to bring up our kids to be respectful, honest, caring and overall good human beings.

Believe me when I say parents do a lot of self-infliction to their children. Oops, I meant MOIs. Mr. Green

I agree that lack of proper parenting is the major cause of misbehaving kids and it's easy to preach from the sidelines however,I'm one of those parent's that put alot of effort in bringing them up and seeing crap like this become the norm is frightening.
It scares me to think how things will be 20 years from now,I feel sorry for my children when they have kids.

And it doesn't help with having zero control over your kids' motivation to find a way to see rate R movies like this one. But it is easy to preach from the sidelines when you have ten siblings with >30 children. Every single one of them (siblings and their children) has presented good reason for a depressing future. Smile

Maybe today's children shouldn't have any.

Wan,

You have a chip on your shoulder the size of Buick. Get over it. Not everybody had a horrible upbringing. Many of us have raised well adjusted kids who have become meaningful contributors to society. The chances are pretty good they will do the same.

Hmm, there are 2 million failures alone in prison. I think I made to upgrade that chip to something bigger. But the point was simply that you cannot play film as a major contributor to a child's less than stellar departure from the ideal graduation into adulthood.

I disagree w/ that. I dont know about you, but when i was growing up, my parents word was LAW. It wasn't until i was a junior in HS that i even started to do anything behind my parents back. By anything i mean i snuck away to a couple'o concerts and a party or 2. My parents would have KILLED me if i did worse. It seems that parents today just give up. I had a convo w/ a co-worker who was saying that kids are going to smoke and drink and have sex... so why try to stop them.

So i suggested to him that he buy his son a lid of Heroin, bag of weed, fifth of jack, and a hooker on the way home.... He's going to do it anyway..... Rolling Eyes
