|
|
I have installed a FullHD V1 into my Sony G70 and in both 1080i and 1080p, if I try to converge the projector using the normal internal patterns that come up with attempting to Center, Size, Lin, Key, etc., the result isn't even close to being converged when viewing the source from a Bluray and HD-DVD. Instead I have to look at a pattern coming from the HD player, remember which way I need to adjust a color, go into the convergence system and make the changes blind and then go back to check how I need to adjust the color again. A very slow and tedious process.
I never had a mismatch when using component input. When the G70 internal patterns were converged, so was the source. Do I have a configuration issue or something I am doing wrong?

You should use external patterns as Tom says. However, on a G70 you can look at an external pattern while you converge. Just input the source pattern and press the test pattern button on the remote repeatedly to cycle through all the patterns. The final "pattern" will be your input source.

Thanks for the info. I knew about cycling patterns but didn't realize one of them was the external source.

Just to clarify... When I do a full setup, I always setup first with the internal pattern - 480p (31.5KHz) - I think it's oscillator 2 - and save to all memory locations before I go start converging the external sources. I seem to remember a post from one of the old experts (Terry F, maybe) saying that was the correct way to do it. I tried starting from scratch with an external source at 1080i once, and it had all sorts of problems.
Craig, does that make sense? Is that how you do it?

This is much closer to the "by the book way" and does provide a base for higher scan rates. It sounds like a reasonably good method to me.
