Sorry for digging this one up, but this one of the titles I had recently ordered and finally arrived. I sat down in the theater watching the first six episodes, and I can say it cannot compete with BoB. I am finding it a little hard to get attached to any of the characters. As far as PQ goes it nice seeing it up on 103" (16:9 portion of my 10' wide screen). I'll probably wait until tomorrow or Sunday before watching more. This makes me want to watch BoB in the theater now that its up and running.

I don't believe I'm about to agree with Wan man BUT I agree, Band of Brothers was better.
However I wonder if that's because we're getting desensitized after Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers?

I agree too.

Still 10x better than most of anything else on TV though.

They really set the bar high with Band of Brothers. That much is true.

Man, I guess I need to go back and watch Band of Brothers, because my wife and I really, really liked The Pacific. We didn't have a hard time connecting with the characters at all, either. Some of those episodes left me so exhausted, I literally had to sit in the recliner for a few minutes during the end credits to decompress... Yes, it left me that emotional.

Maybe The Pacific wasn't quite up to BoB, but I still think it was really, really good - excellent, in fact. Some people hated them, but I really liked the vignettes at the beginning with the real soldiers.

Oh, you guys will think this is dumb, but hey - I'm a graphic designer - I LOVED the title sequence and music - the charcoal illustrations and black/white film - it was just beautifully done.

Wan, if you're only six episodes in, give it a chance... Watch it all the way to the end and see if you haven't developed a much deeper connection to the characters.

Agreed! Bob: 11/10. Pacific: 10/10

Both are fantastic.

So did I! I found it really added a depth to the story. To see these guys 50-60 years *after* the war get all choked up about it shows much much of an impact it had on them. I can't even begin to understand this myself having never been in something similar.

Double agreed! I appreciated the work that went into it.

My opinion could be early as I only watched the first six episodes. Maybe I am also subconsciously missing the commentary of the real people that book-end each episode of BoB.
