For those of you who have read my first post about the Sony 1272, I was wondering if anyone had any screen shots of what 1080i looks like on the 1272 and what type of components are you using. I planning on purchasing some of the HD products on Curt's Site to add HDMI, and wanted to know if they were worth it or not.
I tried the search function but only got tips and fixes..

Here are some of a 1272? in this thread https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=14922.html you'll have to scroll down a few post a open them but her it is.

Also on the top of the forum page here there is a search feature it has the magnifying glass next to it. you can search for 1272 pics or screen shot it might take awhile to get the hang of it but it works pretty good.

Don't mind me to much I'm not that proficient either.

Thanks!
I just got to get used to the search function for this forum. I frequent many audio forums and the search function is different from site to site.

Would anyone care to take a pic for me? pretty please?

Here's a few shots from when I had my 1271 hanging in my theater:

I was running 1080i from the PS3 and HD DVD via the original HD Fury. The shots should give you an idea what kind of sharpness to expect (or not). My machine was very well set up, probably about as sharp as any 12xx was ever capable of. The color will smoke anything but a pretty recent, mid-range and up digital. CRT color is the reason I've stayed with CRT as long as I have. Until just recently, you had to spend upwards of $5000 to get a digital that looked similar to a CRT in most respects.

On HDMI... IMHO, I wouldn't spend the bucks on an HDMI input card to put in a 12xx unless you were certain you were going to stick with a Sony machine. I'd probably go with an HD Fury 2, then maybe upgrade to a Moome card or HD Fury 3 later if you get serious.

I have had my 1252 for six years, doing upgrades all along. I use IFB-11 with the Fury2. but have a IFB -12, Mike Downing DVI input card and a Moome DVI/component card (first version). I have about 800.00 in upgrade input cards. If I were new to CRT today I would go with the latest Moome IFB-Full HD input card. Buy it new or find a used one. You never know, you may upgrade to a G70 or G90. If you don't stay with the Sony line, the card should be worth at least 200.00.

Thanks for the sample images guys! Those images certainly look better than my current LCD projector. I can see what you all mean by color when it comes to CRT. The LCD that I'm running tends to look really washed out most of the time. The colors are definately not as full or rich looking. If some of you were following my other post, I was recently offered a 1272 from a forum member. Hopefully, I hear from him soon, and it saves me the hunt. Then again, hunting it is kinda fun Very Happy Wish me luck!

You can have either one or both if you want them. It's eight hours each way from Sacramento to San Diego and back. You could leave at 6am and be back home by 10pm. Probably cost you 150 bucks in fuel. You have a PM.
