Dear all

I got a Vision One case for a Marquee. I'm trying to mount it before getting it painted.

It has a terrible fit. The left and right side panels are not equal and they do not fit the front part well (to say the least).

The plastic part on the front cannot be mounted at all, and even if I cut away, the Acon do not fit in the hole in the plastic part. The Acon connector cannot be mounted in the usual way and the IR receiver looks like it need to be mounted in the middle of the front plastic part.

Do any of you have either a technical drawing from a service manual or some closeup pictures showing the mounting?
I can take some pictures if you want to see what I'm talking about.

For me it looks like something must be very different on a Vidikron Vision One compared to a standard Marquee. Perhaps it is just me, and I need just need to use bigger tools Wink

Kind regards, Claus

Are you sure you don't have a Vision Two case? I think that would explain the fit problems on the front piece.

That was one fast answer!

No I'm not sure. I will ask Curt.

Is it all the parts, or only the front plastic part (covering the Acon) that is different on One and Two?

The lens holes are different on 9500LC to the 8500AC. I think for Acon they had a special front cover as well.

Yes + Yes. Front ACON covers are rare and it also uses a special sheetmetal bracket to mount the camera.

No, if this came from me, it was from a Vision One. I agree, the 4 cases I've had here all had a bad fit I've never had a Vision 2 here.

The case was on another Vision One (with burnt tubes) until I transferred it over to your set.

Those cases were a nightmare to fit up! They took forty labor hours (if you knew what you were doing in fiberglas) after pulling the
case pieces out of the molds to the time that they were fitted and finished and installed.

I bought the original case molds. I gave them to Derfla. I think even he gave up on them. Too much work!

By all rights they should have been injection molded in heavy gauge ABS or Lexan. It would have made life much easier.

But they sure do look good when fitted properly.

Thanks guys

Okay, so it is not only me that thinks they fit awful together. The worst part is actually the Acon cover. I will bring out the heavy tool and change it until it fits. Then I will have to find a way to mount the IR receiver and the Acon afterwards.

I cannot get the Acon front piece up below the front of the Vision case (because of the alu holding the plastic thing that hold the connector for the Acon) and it cannot go on the outside of the front of the Vision case either.

Nothing is impossible, it just takes a little longer to do!

Thank you all for your help.

Kind regards, Claus

Frankly, why not forget about the ACON? It rarely works right on the Marquee, esp. when ceiling mounted. I'd fill the hole in.

Yeah, I keep having to "help" my acon camera. It often ends up pointing at the far corners of the room, well away from any part of the screen. Even when it does work, I always have to do a few little touchups after it's done.

Curt

Good point. There is just something about the Acon arrangement I like. It looks more fancy than just a hole anyway.

It is actually not the Acon causing the problem. It is the plastic part and I have to do something special to be able to mount the IR receiver anyway.

I will post some pictures when I find a solution.

Kind regards, Claus
