According to Curts spec. pages the old Cine8 (silver finnish) uses 180DVB22

The Marquee 8500 uses 180DMB22...

Can I move tubes from the Marquee to the Cine8???

Do I need any modifications of neckboard?

The DVB tubes have G2 on pin 6. DMBs have it on pin 2. Make that change on your neck boards and you're good to go.

I believe the DVBs are higher resolution than the DMBs, though.

Thanks!

The specific DVBs are toasted to a higher grade of brown so the resolution issue is less important Mr. Green

Stefan , If I were you I would try to source some p16 tubes. You will retain resolution. Just because they are burned doesn't reduce the resolution capabilities of the guns. You may not be happy with the downgrade from one tube to the other.

Thanks for the input...

I run a Marquee 9500LC Ultra in my homecinema, this Cine 8 that I'm trying to buy is one that I just want to get up and running with fairly good tubes to put in one of my´doughters room.
I have a 8500 in stock for some spare parts for the other Marquee and it is from this pj I will steel the guns....

I'm pretty sure that it is sony tubes in cine8 which makes it a bit difficult to fit in mec tubes in sony mounts

Some Cine 8s DEFINITELY use Panasonic tubes. I know, I just got the last parts out of two cannibalized Cine 8 Onyx machines in the last
few weeks. Though all the boards were gone already, two blue tubes were still there. Panasonics.

I do not know if they ever ran Sony tubes, though.

The early "silver" Cine8 are essentially Barco Graphics 808s and have Sony tubes. The later "black" Cine8 have the higher resolution MEC tubes. At least that is what I have been told. If your Cine8 has Sony tubes you will need to mod the neckboards and find new CRT mounting blocks that are MEC compatible.

Here's another question: Does the Cine 8 Onyx (Panasonic tubes) use the same neck board as the Cine 9? The one with 180 MHz video bandwidth?

I think 2002 or 2003. But that is only what I have been told. I have seen only one Cine8 which was circa 2000. It was silver and had Sony tubes. The data points on these later Barcos and even more so their Runco clones are very few and far between. For example the boards in the Rucno 1100 series (1209s) have been documented to vary between those made 1999 and those in 2000. Barco seems to have mixed matched over time. It wouldn't surprise me if later silver cased Cine8 came with MEC tubes at some point. I wouldn't make any assumptions.
