This is the Jack we should get. 3rd one down

PN # 142167

http://www.amphenolconnex.com/SearchResults.asp?ProductID=175

newark can get them, 67 day lead time not stocked minimum order 25 @ 4.63.

hopefully Digikey will take them back

I think this is the one right?

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=ACX1321-ND

it is the 50 ohm one not the 75, they don't stock that.

So part number 142166 at Digikey

i discovered my mistake, the plug i ordered was under the category smb but it is an smz.
i just mailed farnell and asked me if they are willing to sell me the plug i need for a reduced price.

http://nl.farnell.com/amphenol/smb6112d1-3gt30g-5-50/plug-smb-right-angle-50r/dp/1111344

lets hope they agree.

Are you sure? the ones in the amphenol page look like yours.

And here is the digikey plug.

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?vendor=0&keywords=142195

I think yours is the same.

Here is the drawing, check the measurements and see if yours matches.

it looks that way but it isnt if you look at the drawing the outer diameter shows 6.5mm the one i have now is almost 9mm.
and they all look the same that is what makes this so confusing especially with tricks like smb series smz type connector.

this is what i have now, the picture doesnt match completely round body vs square body.
but it says smz in the description.

What you have to look at is the cable type it uses. that will determin the size i think.

what might work so you dont spend any more money is send me a connector if you bought a lot of them, I'll see if they have a two hole flange type for that connector. if not then you'll have to order connectors and sockets to match. I'll send these back, I thinkt hey are way to small anyhow the cable would be thinner than the stock marquees.

they do have to fit the vnb however if you are going for a smz socket they might not fit.
i will take a look now the mounting holes MUST be 8mm apart and a thinner cable doesnt mean it is any worse, the contact resistance is much much lower with the new connector.

the cable i am using now is 0.7mm 7*0.1mm and the insulation is abou 1.5mm, that is the part that goes in the plug.

It does, but only from the amphenol web site.

They have 75ohms , so look for the RG179, RG179A,RG179B, RG187, RG187A cable type like the SMZ you used.

Also do not get hung up on the 75 ohm thing, Scott told me that 50 Ohms will work and those we can get for both connector and socket.

the socket you have now, how far are the mounting holes apart from center to center.
if they are 8mm apart then that is the right socket and i will need other plugs that take the rg179 type cable.

This socket is way to small, the holes are correct though. The socket outer diameter is the same as the stock Cable.
I put the SMB socket next tot he old style cable plug for comparison.
