I need to ask anyone and everyone about how they are making out measuring native contrast ratios. I mean, I am not aware of lab equipment (my ignorance) that can measure 100,000:1 accurately. I am not aware of any that has a detector whereby the manufacturer claims it can do 1,000,000:1 inaccurately. So, even in the make-believe world of science fiction I have to wonder who in Panasonic's marketing department thinks they can get anyone BUT COWSUMERS to believe in a 5,000,000:1 CR capability.
While I do not doubt that there are a lot of dumb shoppers out there, and an even larger number of dumb people out there, but I continually seem to be amazed at how marketing can run as rampant as the ever-changing value in this news report.
I say ever-changing because at some point it reported 500,000,000 to 1. This might just be the dark matter scientists have been looking for. Leave it to the Japs for hiding it until now.

What, you don't believe it does 500 fL with a .0001 fL black level? Who cares if the brightness is >15x the THX recommended brightness level for LCDs?
Where's the ROTFLMAO emoticon when you need it?

Can I rebadge the unit, paint parts of it black, and claim 5,000,010:1 CR?
Of course it will cost you a small surcharge...

Curt, we are now replacing the word 'surcharge' with 'lexicon'.
